Thursday, June 4, 2015 To the Education Community of the Gulf Islands School District: School District 64 extends congratulations to Ms. Judy Smith who has been seconded to the position of MyEducationBC—School District Liaison with the Ministry of Education for the 2015/2016 school year. The district would like to thank Judy for her eighteen years of service as a principal and we look forward to continuing to work with Judy in a new capacity as she transitions into this position with the province. Effective August 1, 2015, Ms. Boe Beardsmore has been appointed as Principal of Phoenix Elementary School. Boe will be missed by the Galiano community where she has served as principal since January 2013. Additionally, School District 64 is pleased to announce Ms. Shannon Johnston has been appointed as Principal of Galiano Community School effective August 1, 2015. Shannon will continue in the role of Aboriginal Education Coordinator for School District 64 and will be an integral part of a transition plan to provide continuity to the educational community on Saturna Island where she has been a principal for the past two years. Congratulations to Judy on her secondment to the Ministry of Education and to Boe and Shannon on the new roles that they will be assuming in School District 64.
