Calendar “Preparing for first use” every time you launch Outlook
1. If you have iCloud installed, remove it and see if the issue goes away.
2. Then reinstall iCloud and launch Outlook.
3. If the problem returns a trouble ticket will be opened with Apple Support to look into
the issue
Change the default Weather location on the calendar
Outlook 2013 displays weather information for New York by default and it does not
depend upon the configured time zone in Outlook. Follow these steps to change this location:
1. Click on the small arrow near the current city that’s being displayed and select the option
to add a new location.
2. Enter the name of your city, wait for Outlook to return possible matches and select the
city you want to monitor.
Outlook Calendar search causes outlook crash
1. Click into the Search Calendar box but do not enter any text.
2. On the Search tab of the Ribbon, click Search Tools and then click Advanced Find.
3. Enter your search criteria in the Advanced Find dialog box.
4. Double-click any item shown in the results to open that item.

Disable Graphics Acceleration in Outlook
a. Click File\Options. Choose Advanced from the choices on the left
b. Scroll down to Display
c. Put a check mark in the box for Disable hardware graphics acceleration
d. Reboot your computer
Lync
What is Lync
Microsoft Lync is an instant messaging application that comes with Microsoft Office 2013. In addition to
the instant messaging feature, meetings can be scheduled, video conferences can take place and you
can call other people.
Connecting to Lync
The first time you launch Lync you are required to Sign In. Once you have signed in and
connected, Lync will start automatically when you reboot. You will find Lync on your programs
menu:
Start\All Programs\Microsoft Office 2013\Lync 2013
Follow these steps to sign in to Lync
1. Enter your [email protected]
2. Enter your network password
3. Press enter or click Sign In
Disable auto start for Lync
If you don’t want Lync to run automatically when you sign in to your computer or laptop it can
be turned off
1. Click the drop down arrow next to the settings icon.
2. Choose Tools\Options
3. In the navigation pane on the left Click Personal
4. On the right, remove the check mark from “Automatically start Lync when I log on to
Windows”
Excel
Overall slowness, blurry or pixelated images
Disable Graphics Acceleration in Excel
1. Click File\Options. Choose Advanced from the choices on the left
2. Scroll down to Display
3. Put a check mark in the box for Disable hardware graphics acceleration
4. Reboot
Error – There is not enough memory to perform the operation
If you have Adobe Pro X or less, disable the COM add-in
a. Click File\Options\Add-Ins.
b. On the right, click the drop down arrow next to Manage and choose COM Addins then click Go…
c. Remove the check mark for Adobe and click OK
