The annual musical is held to entertain and promote the arts both within the Dominican College campus and the neighboring community. Damn Yankees is the tale of Joe Boyd, a middle aged baseball fan who dreams of his former years playing the sport. He is visited by Mr. Applegate, the devil in disguise, and is convinced to sell his soul in order to become young again and play for his beloved Washington Senators. Though he does indeed choose youth, his love for his wife is stronger so Applegate must attempt to thwart this love by use of his attractive assistant Lola all while shooing away reporters and skeptical fans. With notable songs such as Heart (You Gotta Have) and Whatever Lola Wants this years production will be as amazing, if not better than last years unforgettable production of Grease . This year is particularly special as Dominican College Alumni, and former Aquin Player, Edward Astorino has returned to assist with the production. His niece, new student Victoria Ficuciello, is continuing the family tradition by portraying the role of Henry within the musical. Edward attended the college and portrayed the role of Mr. Van Buren the last time Damn Yankees was performed. Similarly this year Aquin will be saying goodbye to its President Krystina Gonzalez and Vice President Kevin Salcce, Secretary Kayla Sohlman, Jonathan Cho, and Andres Forese, all graduating seniors. So please join us as we appreciate the arts, the talent, and the love that the Aquin Players place on stage year after year.
