Twain’s Vegas residency
to end in December
C
ountry superstar Shania Twain will end her residency in Las
Vegas with a final show Dec 13, two years after she made a
grand Sin City entrance on horseback and began performing
at Caesars Palace. Twain announced 16 “Shania: Still the One” shows
in October and December, in addition to summer performances
running through Saturday at the Colosseum - the same venue that
hosts fellow Canadian Celine Dion. “I can’t thank Las Vegas enough,”
Twain said in a statement, calling the city “home” and noting an
after-school program she launched in a needy Las Vegas school. “I
started the first international Shania Kids Can clubhouse in Las
Vegas because I love this city, and my time here has given me more
than anyone can ever know.” The singer, known for hits including
“Man! I Feel Like A Woman” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much,”
came to town in November 2012. Traffic down the Las Vegas Strip
was temporarily halted for a herd of horses that accompanied her
on her grand entrance. Her stage show features trained horses, a
live band and a flying motorcycle. Organizers said at the time that
Twain’s residency would be a two-year engagement. She will have
performed more than 110 shows by the end of the year.

T
he Library of Congress is honoring Billy Joel with its
Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Librarian James
Billington said yesterday the singer-songwriter,
whose hits include “Piano Man” and “Uptown Girl,” will
receive the prize in Washington in November. The
Gershwin Prize honors a living artist’s lifetime achievement
in music. Previous recipients include Paul Simon, Stevie
Wonder, Sir Paul McCartney, the songwriting duo of Burt
Bacharach and the late Hal David, and Carole King. Joel is
among the world’s most popular recording artists. He has
said his piano-driven compositions spring from personal
experiences, and that he strives to write songs that capture
and transcend those moments. With a career spanning 50
years in the entertainment industry, Joel is the sixth topselling artist of all time.

here’s a “RocknRolla” reunion on the horizon, as Idris Elba
is in talks to co-star in Guy Ritchie’s “Knights of the
Roundtable: King Arthur” an individual familiar with the
project has told TheWrap. Elba is not circling the lead role of
Arthur, but rather an older Knight named Bedivere, Arthur’s
father’s right-hand man who takes it upon himself to train the
young warrior for battle as he learns his true destiny. Joby
Harold wrote the script and will produce with his Safehouse
Pictures partner Tory Tunnell, as well as Akiva Goldsman and
Lionel Wigram. Warner Bros will release Ritchie’s medieval movie
on July 22, 2016. Elba next stars in the home invasion thriller
“No Good Deed” and the Sean Penn action movie “ The
Gunman,” as well as Cary Fukunaga’s “Beasts of No Nation.” He’ll
also voice Shere Khan in Disney’s “The Jungle Book.” Elba, who
won a Golden Globe several years ago for “Luther,” is represented by WME, Headshell Management and the Artists Partnership.

Williams lashes out at British Airways
aisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark of “Game of Thrones,” finally
figured out how to stick ‘em with the pointy end - the pointy end
of her social media account, at least. The 17-year-old HBO star’s
character is famous for her fiery spirit, adaptive nature, and relative proficiency with a sword, but in real life she’s making a name for herself as a disgruntled airline customer. After being refused entrance to British Airways’
business class lounge for being under age (she won’t turn 18 until April
2015) and unaccompanied by an adult, the up-and-coming starlet aired
her grievances Sunday on Twitter. “Denied from the business lounge once
again for being under 18 and without an adult.. @British_Airways sort your
shit out.,” Williams’ profanity-charged tweet, which now has more than
2,000 favorites, read. The airline replied just three hours later. The company
was polite and apologetic, but stood firm on its position.
“@Maisie_Williams Hi Maisie. We’re sorry if you were disappointed, lounge
guests must be 18 or older. We look forward to welcoming you soon.,” the
airline responded. Problem solved, right? Not so much. When you play the
game of business class lounge disputes, you either win or you continue
tweeting, apparently. “Yes.. @British_Airways fully understand that, my
question is why? Why can we travel alone but not use the lounge? It makes
no sense.,” Williams continued. “Just saying if 16-18 yr olds are grown up
enough to travel 5,400 miles around the world..” Season 5 of “Game of
Thrones” will air in next spring.

Furious 7 ‘hardest’ film he’s made
V
in Diesel says ‘Fast & Furious 7’ was the
“hardest movie” he’s ever made. Filming
has now wrapped for the seventh installment of the film franchise and actor Vin Diesel
has opened up about the pain of losing his costar Paul Walker in a tragic car accident in late
2013. Talking to Access Hollywood, Vin reflected:
“It was surreal. Needless to say the hardest
movie I’ve ever done. “I remember when the
tragedy happened. My mother said, ‘It’s not fair
that you have to mourn in front of the world’.
“What’s even harder is to mourn and simultaneously pretend that that person is next to you. It’s
very, very weird.” Paul - who played Brian
O’Conner in the films - died in November last
year while in the passenger seat of a car being
driven by his friend Roger Rodas. The car burst
into flames after hitting a lamppost in California
and it’s thought that the vehicle could have
been travelling at up to 100 miles per hour.
to play Shazam
wayne Johnson has revealed he could play Shazam. The hunky
actor, 42, revealed the news in an interview with LoveFilm, when he
said that his character “would have the power of Superman”. Asked
about his ambitions, Johnson said: “Shazam, of course, I would love to play.
They approached me about [Captain Marvel] and [villain] Black Adam as
well. “We’ve been meeting for months. We’re toying with either one. I
think it’s up to the fans. Without question.” The DC Comics character whose powers are magical rather than alien - will be better-known to
some comic book fans as Captain Marvel. Described as ‘The World’s
Mightiest Mortal’, Shazam is considered to be among the most impressive
of the DC characters and would seem to be a good fit for Johnson’s incredible physique. However, he could also play the role of Black Adam, who is
almost identical in appearance to Shazam, but whose personality has
been corrupted by magical powers. Johnson has confirmed that he is happy for the fans to decide which of the roles they want him to play. He said:
“I think it’s up to the fans, very specifically because they are passionate
about the comic book, about the history and mythology [of the character].”
Sadly, Paul died before finishing filming his
scenes for ‘Fast & Furious 7’ and his brothers
Caleb and Cody Walker were asked to fill in for
their late sibling as a body double, so that the
movie could be completed. Dwayne “The Rock”
Johnson - who also stars in the film - previously
confessed that completing the project was “bittersweet”. He shared: “Last day on set, it was bittersweet. It was emotional, it was beautiful. It
was amazing, it was sad, it was all those things.
We are all in the business we all know and love
Paul Walker and we truly lost one of the good
ones.” He added: “My number one thought is for
his daughter [Meadow Walker]. I believe she is
doing okay. I think she’s doing as okay as she
can.”

Deauville American Film Festival
essica Chastain will be honored at the Deauville American Film

France, this September - after impressing its director, Bruno Barde, with
her “grace, talent and beauty”, reports Digital Spy. He explained: “The
tribute is a token of our affection, admiration, recognition and esteem
for the talent of the recipient. “For the past few years, we have been
paying tribute to those actresses who embody the cinema of today and
who will form the legacy of tomorrow. “We salute her grace and talent
and the beauty of the truth she brings to her performance.” Barde
added that the 37-year-old actress - who earned Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe-nominations for her role in ‘The Help’ and won
the Golden Globe for Best Actress for her part in the 2012 military
thriller ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ - has earned the title through her constant
stream of attention-grabbing performances. He said: “When we first
discovered Jessica Chastain, we had the definite feeling that here was
someone special on-screen. Through her successive roles, she has confirmed her emotional capacity to grab the limelight.” Chastain can next

and Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Crimson Peak’, in which she stars alongside
Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam.
