It’s time to celebrate! Plans are well underway for the 2015 Portola/King Junior High
School Reunion. Our theme is “It’s A Family Affair.” Our celebration will be dedicated
to the memory of the late Sheree Moss-Borum, co-founder of the Portola/King Reunion
Committee; and our dear Mrs. Mae C. Johnson.
The reunion recognizes all of the alumni, educators and administrators from junior high
schools within the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District (MPUSD): Walter
Colton, Roger S. Fitch, Fremont, Los Arboles and Martin Luther King, Jr. (Also included
are Santa Catalina, San Carlos, Junipero, York and Robert Lewis Stevenson.)
This year, our WEEKEND EVENTS include the following activities (see registration

Martin Luther King Junior High School’s Class of 1970 turned the tragic loss of
classmate Edna Robinson into the determination to maintain a lifelong bond. With the
establishment of the Portola/King Junior High School Reunion Committee in 1995,
the gathering now recognizes all of the alumni, educators and administrators from the
junior high schools within the Monterey Unified School District. (Those from Santa
Catalina, San Carlos, Junipero, York and Robert Lewis Stevenson also attend). It’s
no surprise 20 years later, this bi-annual event has attracted nearly 500 alumni.
Our alumni have entered numerous fields of endeavor, including education, health,
government, business and law enforcement to name a few. They have set high
standards for the graduates of tomorrow to follow in their footsteps. While many have
relocated to pursue employment opportunities, they still fondly consider the
Monterey Peninsula “home.”
