Process for Submitting Nominations
1.
Nominations are to be made in writing on the attached form and submitted to the Secret Harbour SLSC
Administrative Officer no later than Friday 24 April 2015 at the above email or postal address or directly to the
office during office hours.
2.
There are three categories a member may be nominated for:
a)
Senior Life Saver of the Year
b)
Cadet (Under 17 – Under 19 age groups)
c)
Junior Lifesaver (Under 14/15 Age Groups)
3.
Nominees must hold the appropriate club membership category & awards eg. Active/bronze holder (this can be
confirmed with the club administrator)
4.
Nominations can be made my any active member or office bearer of the club.
5.
Nominations will be reviewed by the Secret Harbour SLSC Board of Management to provide any additional
supporting information.
6.
Nominations will then be forwarded to the Bevan Medal Selection Committee for consideration.
7.
Winners will be announced at the Secret Harbour SLSC Awards Night by the Bevan Medal Selection Committee.

2.18
SELECTION OF BEVAN MEDALLISTS
a. A Bevan Medal Selection Committee shall be composed of between three (3) and five (5) members
nominated by the Board of Management at the commencement of each season.
b.
Members of the Selection Committee shall be Life Members and/or Trustees of the Club.
c.
There shall be three (3) separate Bevan Medal awards for Senior Lifesaver of the Year, Cadet (U17/19)
Lifesaver of the Year and Junior (U14/15) Lifesaver of the Year.
d.
The Selection Committee shall use the following selection criteria to determine award winners:
(i)
Participation in YOUTH ACTIVITIES
(ii)
Participation in SURF SPORTS
(iii) Participation in LIFESAVING
(iv) Participation in COMMUNITY
(v)
Display of good Character i.e. attributes pertaining to Teamwork, Loyalty, Diligence, Honesty and
Integrity.
e.
Nominations for the Bevan Medal awards may be made by any Active Member or Office Bearer.
f.
The closing date for nominations shall be twenty one (21) days after the date of the final patrol for the season
and are to be forwarded to the Director of Administration for registration and forwarding to the Selection
committee.
g.
The Selection Committee shall forward recommendations for winners of each Bevan Medal award to the Board
of Management for endorsement.
