Test Condition
•  Indoor: Testing Lab, Meeting room and corridor with
contrast light background.
•  Outdoor daytime: Rainy and foggy condition.
•  Outdoor nighttime: traffic road and parking lot with
enough street light.
•  Outdoor nighttime: rooftop, without any surrounding
light.
Vivotek FD8134 test setting:
•  Max resolution 1200x800, ICR: on, BLC: no configurable

Key Findings
•  The result of this color fidelity comparison is rather
identic.
•  In real scene environment, the two cameras have all a
little bit color authenticate issue.

FD8134
Key Findings
•  In indoor environment, DS-2CD2112-I outperformed
FD8134 thanks to its higher resolution. Generally, two
cameras’ performance are on par.
•  In outdoor environment, especially putting camera at a
large FoV location, the performance difference is
obvious favoring to Hikvision DS-2CD2112-I.

DS-2CD2112-I
FD8134
Key Findings
•  By default settings, Vivotek FD8134 seems evidently
more darker than DS-2CD2112-I. The smaller sensor (1/4
inch) should be a big weakness restricting its nighttime
performance.
•  We tried to augment FD8134’s AGC (auto gain control)
and set a slower shutter time, the low-light visibility was
much better but with a severe tradeoff such as noises
increasing, moving object’s smearing effect etc.

Hikvision
DS-2CD2112-I
Key Findings
•  Comparing to DS-2CD2112-I, the BLC of Vivotek FD8134 seems
too simple. Because of its no configurability, the backlight
compensation failed in this scenario.
Weak point: FD8134 BLC function can only compensate the
backlight of center area. If the target object does not take
much space (assuming more than half of center area), the BLC
might be easily failed.
•  Hikvision DS-2CD2112-I has a more richer area option for BLC
configuration, including Up, down, left, right and center.
•  Only Hikvision DS-2CD2112-I has digital WDR function, that
should be an practical bonus for the purpose of seeing both
foreground & background objects clearly.

DS-2CD2112-I
FD8134
Key Findings
•  Vivotek FD8134: Only having 8 pieces IR LEDs, the spec-
feature with 10m range is difficult to reach at default
setting.
•  We have to turn up its AGC ratio to have a relative far
visibility, but the noising interference is significant.

Key Findings
•  Hikvision DS-2CD2112-I showed more stable bit streaming in
CBR mode, comparing to FD8134.
•  Strangely Vivotek FD8134 did not adjust greatly its stream in
VBR mode, that caused a double bitrates consuming over
Hikvision DS-2CD2112-I with the same volume cap setting.
