Vivotek FD8134 test setting: • Max resolution 1200x800, ICR: on, BLC: no configurable Hikvision DS-2CD2112-I test setting: • Max resolution 1280x960, ICR: auto, BLC: configurable White Light Balance Test • D65 Light Source/artificial daylight (5440K) DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 White Light Balance Test • CWF Light Source (4150K) DS-2CD2112-I * Cool White Fluorescent FD8134 White Light Balance Test • TL84 Light Source (4000K) DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 White Light Balance Test • A Light Source (2800K) DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 White Light Balance Test • A65 Light Source (5710K) DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 White Light Balance Test • CWF Light Source (4010K) DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 White Light Balance Test • TL84 Light Source (3868K) DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 White Light Balance Test • Fluorescent Light Source (2695K) DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Key Findings • The result of this color fidelity comparison is rather identic. • In real scene environment, the two cameras have all a little bit color authenticate issue. Daytime Shootout Test • Meeting Room DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Daytime Shootout Test • Crossroad DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Daytime Shootout Test • Street DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Daytime Shootout Test • Parking lot DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Key Findings • In indoor environment, DS-2CD2112-I outperformed FD8134 thanks to its higher resolution. Generally, two cameras’ performance are on par. • In outdoor environment, especially putting camera at a large FoV location, the performance difference is obvious favoring to Hikvision DS-2CD2112-I. Low-light Test • Indoor Environment, 0.36lux DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Low-light Test • Outdoor Environment, default setting DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Low-light Test • Outdoor Environment, default setting DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Low-light Test • Outdoor Environment • DS-2CD2112-I: SmartIR on • FD8134: AGC x8, slow shutter 1/5s DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Low-light Test • Outdoor Environment, parking lot, default setting DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Key Findings • By default settings, Vivotek FD8134 seems evidently more darker than DS-2CD2112-I. The smaller sensor (1/4 inch) should be a big weakness restricting its nighttime performance. • We tried to augment FD8134’s AGC (auto gain control) and set a slower shutter time, the low-light visibility was much better but with a severe tradeoff such as noises increasing, moving object’s smearing effect etc. Contrast light condition • BLC: off DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Contrast light condition • BLC: on DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Target backlight compensation failed! Configure the BLC area as “down”. BLC no configurable, and the compensation area is consistently focused on center. Contrast light condition • DWDR: 100 Hikvision DS-2CD2112-I Key Findings • Comparing to DS-2CD2112-I, the BLC of Vivotek FD8134 seems too simple. Because of its no configurability, the backlight compensation failed in this scenario. Weak point: FD8134 BLC function can only compensate the backlight of center area. If the target object does not take much space (assuming more than half of center area), the BLC might be easily failed. • Hikvision DS-2CD2112-I has a more richer area option for BLC configuration, including Up, down, left, right and center. • Only Hikvision DS-2CD2112-I has digital WDR function, that should be an practical bonus for the purpose of seeing both foreground & background objects clearly. IR Performance • DS-2CD2112-I: 10m • FD8134: default AGC: 4x DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 IR Performance • DS-2CD2112-I: 20m • FD8134: AGC: x 8 DS-2CD2112-I FD8134 Key Findings • Vivotek FD8134: Only having 8 pieces IR LEDs, the spec- feature with 10m range is difficult to reach at default setting. • We have to turn up its AGC ratio to have a relative far visibility, but the noising interference is significant.
