a choice based lettings system.
This leaflet provides registered
users information on how to
use our choice based letting
systems and bid for a new home.

Where are properties advertised?
You can find out about available
properties in the following ways:

Equalities Partnership. Contact
details are at the back of this leaflet
Ways to bid

You
can bid for up to three
properties each week in the
following ways:

our neighbourhood

Don’t be worried about the word
‘bid’, as you won’t be parting with
any money. All this means is that
you wish to be considered for the
property or properties you are
applying for.
Your unique bidding reference
number
In order to view properties on
the website or make bids by text
you will need your unique bidding
reference number. This was issued
to you at registration and could be a three, four, five or seven digit number.
To make bids you will need to
enter a seven digit number.

you have a three digit number
add 1000 to the beginning of your
bidding reference number

If
you have a four digit number
add 100 to the beginning of your
bidding reference number
yy
If
you have a five digit number add
10 to the beginning of your bidding
reference number

If
you have a seven digit number,
add nothing

Which properties can
I bid for?
You are only able to bid on
properties that you are eligible
for, e.g. if you only need one
bedroom you will not be able to
bid for a two bedroom property,
unless stated.
Some properties may be age
restricted or only available to
those with support needs.
The symbols that appear on
the adverts will indicate any
restrictions about who is able
to bid for a property.
When are properties
available?
All new properties are available
to view every Wednesday to
Sunday (inclusive). This is
known as the bidding cycle.

How to bid via the website
To view properties and make bids
online visit www.ovh.org.uk
You will need to login with the
following details:
yy
Your
unique bidding reference number
yy
Your
memorable date password initially this will be the date of birth
of the main applicant e.g. 10th
December 1978 should be entered
as 10/12/1978
Once logged in click on the
property search option. You can
look at properties in different ways;
all properties you are eligible for,
all properties currently advertised
or custom searches, e.g. all three
bedroom properties.
If you are eligible for a property,
an ‘apply now’ button will be
displayed. Click to bid for that
property. It will show you your
current queue position - however
this may change as other people bid.
You will be shown the property
details and asked to confirm your
bid. When you confirm your bid
you will be told that your bid has
been successfully placed.
If you are not eligible then the
reason will be displayed.
How to bid by phone
The number to call when placing
a bid is 0300 365 1111.
Bidding lines are open Wednesday
to Sunday. Our Customer Service
Centre is open from 8am to 6pm
Monday to Friday.
In order to bid you will need:

Your

The
property reference number(s)
that you want to bid for

information or advise you on

How to bid by text message
Steps to text bidding
You can bid for properties using
text (SMS) messages using a mobile
phone at any time during
the bidding cycle.
1. Type your unique bidding
reference number (followed by
a space)
You can bid for up to two
properties per text message.
If you wish to bid for a third
property this will need to go
in a separate text message.
In order to bid you will need:

Your
unique reference number
yy
Your
memorable date password
(usually your date of birth)
yy
The
property reference number(s)
that you want to bid for.

(followed by a space)
3. Type the bid number of the
first property you want to bid for
(followed by a space)
4. Type the bid number of the second
property you want to bid for. Then
send your text to 07786 205 103.
You will receive a text confirming
that your bid(s) are eligible or
not. If you are not eligible then
the reason will be displayed.

Bedrooms - The number of
bedrooms in this property
Mobility need - The property
is suitable for people with a
mobility need
Mobility need - The property is suitable for
people with various levels of mobility need
Key worker - This property is
only available to key workers
Minimum age - At least one
household member must be
the age shown
Sheltered - This is a
sheltered property
Parking - This property has parking
Has garden - This property
has a garden
No garden - This property
does not have a garden
Pets permitted - This
property allows pets
