MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THESE BITS AND BOBS HANDY NET A. SET TOP BOX B. REMOTE CONTROL C REW/RE NET C REW/RE C. ACTIVATION LETTER D. 2 x AA BATTERIES E. ANTENNA CABLE G. HDMI CABLE I. COMPONENT CABLE J. COMPOSITE CABLE (1.5m) F. POWER CORD (1.5m) (1.5m) (You may not need to use this) C (2m) NET H. ETHERNET CABLE REW/RE (1.8m) (1.5m) STEP 1 CONNECT TO YOUR INTERNET If you purchased Powerline Adaptors with your Set Top Box: •You will have received a separate package which contains your Powerline Adaptors. Unpack that package and follow the quick start guide for the Powerline Adaptors before moving on to Step 2 of this guide. BITS YOU’LL NEED: A. SET TOP BOX I. ETHERNET CABLE If you did not purchase the optional Powerline Adaptors, connect to your internet using the Ethernet Cable provided: •Plug one end of the Ethernet Cable (H) into the port labelled ‘RJ45’ on the back of the Set Top Box (A). Plug the other end into a spare port on your existing modem/router. YOUR MODEM (A) RJ45 (H) STEP 2 NOW ADD YOUR ANTENNA BITS YOU’LL NEED A. SET TOP BOX E. ANTENNA CABLE Unplug your existing TV Antenna Cable out of the back of your TV and plug it into the port labelled ‘ANT–IN’ on the Set Top Box (A). Keep the other end connected to the antenna socket on the wall. Plug one end of the Antenna Cable (E) which was supplied with the Optus TV Set Top Box into the port labelled ‘ANT–OUT’ on the Set Top Box (A). Plug the other end into the ‘ANT–IN’ (or RF IN) port on the back of your TV. ANTENNA WALL SOCKET ANT IN IN — ANT — OUT IN — ANT — OUT YOUR TV (A) (E) EXISTING ANTENNA CABLE STEP 3 BRING YOUR TV IN ON THE ACTION BITS YOU’LL NEED: A. SET TOP BOX G. HDMI CABLE Plug one end of the included HDMI Cable (G) into the port labelled ‘HDMI’ on the Set Top Box (A). Plug the other end into a spare HDMI port on your TV. NOTE: If you have more that one HDMI port on your TV, take note of any labelling on the HDMI port you use. You will need this in Step 5. SPDIF HDMI HDMI IN (A) YOUR TV (G) DON’T WANT TO CONNECT VIA HDMI? Connecting via HDMI will provide you with the best quality images. If you do not have an HDMI port available on your TV, you can connect via the Component (I) or Composite (J) Cable instead. For online help and video guides go to optus.com.au/optustv/userguide STEP 4 POWER UP BITS YOU’LL NEED: A. SET TOP BOX F. POWER CORD Plug one end of the Power Cable (F) into the power port on the Set Top Box (A). Plug the other end into a power point. Switch the power point ON. (A) WALL POWER POINT AC 240V ~ 50Hz (F) STEP 5 AND TURN IT ON BITS YOU’LL NEED: A. SET TOP BOX Switch on your TV. Switch on the Set Top Box using the power switch on the BACK of the Set Top Box (A). Using your TV Remote Control, find the HDMI input channel you used in Step 3 (or component/composite input if you used this). You can do this via the ‘Source’ (or ‘Input’ or ‘AV Select’) button on your TV Remote Control. You should see the Fetch TV logo on your screen when you’ve found the correct input channel. AC 240V ~ 50Hz YOUR TV YOUR TV REMOTE (A) STEP 6 FOLLOW THE PROMPTS AND YOU’RE SET BITS YOU’LL NEED: B. REMOTE CONTROL C. ACTIVATION LETTER D. 2 x AA BATTERIES You will now be taken through the rest of the Optus TV setup on your TV screen. The on-screen setup will take approximately 5–15 minutes depending on your broadband speed NOTE: Your TV screen will appear blank a number of times during the on-screen setup and may remain blank for up to 2 minutes. Your Set Top Box will also reboot during the setup process – this is normal behaviour. Please do not turn your Set Top Box off at any stage during setup. Insert the 2 x AA Batteries (D) into the included Set Top Box Remote Control (B). Have your included Activation Letter (C) handy during the setup. You will need to enter the Activation Code which is on this letter to activate your Set Top Box. IT SHOULD LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THIS BITS YOU’LL NEED: A. SET TOP BOX E. ANTENNA CABLE F. POWER CORD G. HDMI CABLE H. ETHERNET CABLE (F) YOUR TV (A) (G) (E) EXISTING ANTENNA CABLE Connect to your modem directly using the included Ethernet Cable (shown right). OR If connecting to your internet via Powerline Adaptors please refer to the accompanying quick install guide for that device. (H) YOUR MODEM WAIT, I NEED HELP! GOT ANY ISSUES, PROBLEMS OR HEAD-SCRATCHERS? Q. What if I have no picture on my TV? Q. What happens if my Set Top Box freezes? A. Check that the TV is set to the correct input and mode. Check that the cables are connected securely, alternatively try connecting using different cables if you have spares handy. A. Reboot the Set Top Box by turning it off using the power switch on the back of the box. Wait 30 seconds before turning it back on. DO NOT TURN THE POWER OFF WHILE THE SET TOP BOX IS UPDATING FIRMWARE. Q. What if I have no internet connection? A. Check that your modem is online by testing a website on your PC or laptop. Check that the Ethernet Cable is connected securely. If using a Powerline Adaptor, check it is installed correctly. Please refer to the accompanying Powerline Adaptor quick install guide. Q. My Remote Control is not responding. What can I do? A. Use the Remote Control within six metres of the Set Top Box. Change the batteries in the remote. Q. Why have the channels not scanned? A. Ensure your Antenna Cable is connected into the ‘ANT–IN’ port on the Set Top Box and directly into the wall at the other end. Q. What if I don’t have a spare Ethernet port on my modem? A. You will need to unplug an existing device from your modem to free up a port to connect your Set Top Box. Q. And if I can’t find my activation code? A. Refer to your Optus TV Activation Letter. You can also access your Activation Code by logging in to your Optus TV with Fetch account at optus.com.au/optustv and then clicking on the ‘Manage’ link at the top of the page.
