D&B Linkage for Education
•
Linkage for Higher Education follows similar guidelines like government
entities, but can vary from state to state based on state government laws and
regulations
•
Control and funding by the state government determines linkage between the
educational institution and the state government
•
Curriculum guidance and partial funding from the governor’s office does not
equate to a D&B linkage relationship
•
In order for it to be linked to the state, the educational institute will be
controlled and funded by the state. As such, these entities will be linked within
the state’s family tree

Recommendations for Education Linkage
To ensure the Family Trees are accurate, I recommend:
•
That the HQ’s or ‘higher ranking’ DUNS and authorized personnel from the
college/university make the request for linkage.
•
Having a representative from the college/university ask for the family tree
yearly to review and update
•
The highest ranking member of the college/university review SAM to
ensure all their members actively registered in CCR are linked

customer doing business with the US Federal Government, known as the
GCRC

The GCRC and Online Request
• Website: http://fedgov.dnb.com/webform
•
This is the only D&B page that should be used by entities doing/or wanting to
do business with the Government
•
•
If a customer enters D&B through a site other than http://fedgov.dnb.com/webform, their request
may result in a charge or product promotion.
The phone: 1- 866-705-5711 (7am – 8pm CST)
•
DUNS requests and modifications are still taken over the phone, however, there is now a
stronger push to have customers go directly to the website.
