WAPPINGERS CONTINUING EDUCATION PRESENTS Learn How to Become a School Bus Driver Wappingers Continuing Education is now offering 2 courses to prepare you for a new career as a school bus driver. CDL Permit Preparation Class (10 hours) Cost: $250 This 10-hour class will cover the core knowledge required to pass the CDL permit test. In addition it will include the “S” endorsement (to drive a school bus), the “P” endorsement (to transport passengers) and the air brakes endorsement (which removes restriction “L” for someone who already holds a CDL.) Completion of this class will prepare you for the 50-hour class Prerequisites: 21 years of age, valid driver’s license, clean abstract, GED or High School degree. Class Dates: Tuesday, July 8th 6:00-8:00 pm th Thursday, July 10 6:00-8:00 pm Saturday, July 12th 8:00 am-2:00 pm Learn How to Drive a School Bus (50 hours) Cost: $2,700 This class will teach you the requirements to become a school bus driver and prepare you to take the CDL road test. The class includes 20 classroom hours, 30 hours behind the wheel of a school bus and the first road test. When you complete the course and pass the road test you will be ready to be employed as a school bus driver. Prerequisites: CDL permit, DOT physical exam, 21 years or older, clean abstract within thirty days of your application date. It is recommended that you take the CDL 10-hour permit class first. Classes will be held on Tuesdays & Thursdays, mornings or afternoons (your choice) for 2 ½ hours; and Saturdays 10:00 am-3:00 pm Class Dates: Week 1: July 29, 31, August 2 Week 2: August 5, 7, 9 Week 3: August 12, 14, 16 Week 4: August 19, 21, 23 Week 5: August 26, 28, 30 Cost of class is $2,700; $900 deposit due with application; second payment of $900 due by August 12th; final payment of $900 due by August 26th. Classes will be held in Wappingers Central School District Bus Annex on Airport Road in Wappingers Falls.
