How to Prevent Training Injuries
Thinking of starting a new physical activity program or ramping up your
current training program? If so, you may be at risk of an overuse injury
– which could put your fitness goals on hold. However, most overuse
injuries are avoidable if you follow a few tips:
proper form and gear. Whether you’re starting a new type of

taking lessons. Using the correct technique is crucial to preventing
injuries. Also, make sure you wear proper shoes for the activity.

muscle groups. Strive to include aerobic exercise, strength training, stretching, core

Take the Mayo Clinic Health Assessment
Knowledge about Your Health is Power
Why take a Health Assessment? The more knowledge you
gain about your health, the more power you have to manage
it! Many times, making even small lifestyle changes can lead
to a more healthy, vibrant life.
Take the
Health
Assessment
any time!
The Mayo Clinic Health Assessment is your first step in
helping you to identify your current level of health and
set your personal wellness goals. It is a valuable tool that provides you
with personalized information about your health risks and strengths. The
assessment asks for your current health-related numbers including blood
pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. You can use results from a current
annual physical or indicate “I don’t know.”
» You can complete the Mayo Clinic Health Assessment at any time.
» It is free and completely confidential.
» All Health Tradition Health Plan members are encouraged to participate.
» It takes less than 30 minutes to complete.
» It can be done on any computer with internet access.
Once you have completed the assessment, you’ll receive a list of recommendations based on your health strengths and risks. You will then be directed
to the EmbodyHealth web portal, a web-based personal health management
tool with resources including health assessments, behavior change programs,
tailored behavioral messages, treatment decision guides, and reliable health
information designed to help you better manage your health.
Complete your Health Assessment on the Mayo Clinic Embody Health portal
at healthtradition.com.

A Health Care System Goes Beyond Buildings
World-Class Health Care, Right in Your Community
One of the benefits of being a Health Tradition Health Plan member is access to a world-class network of health
care providers. What does that mean for you? It means that Mayo Clinic Health System providers share their
expertise, allowing physicians to see patients in two or more locations, making it possible for patients to receive
access to specialty care without traveling away from your local clinics.
It means working together in ground-breaking ways and utilizing technology to share expertise and knowledge
throughout the health care system. It also means using mobile services to bring technology to your town. Here
are just a few examples of that collaboration:
Del-Carpio, M.D., a heart rhythms specialist, sees a complex patient in La Crosse, he doesn’t
« WjusthenreferFreddy
that patient for more specialized treatment. He actually accompanies the patient to Mayo Clinic
in Rochester, ensuring all-important continuity of care and reducing stress for the patient.
Daniel Clayton, M.D., a neurosurgeon, performs deep-brain stimulation in Rochester for patients
« who
have been diagnosed with essential tremors or Parkinsons Disease while keeping clinic hours
in La Crosse for the rest of his neurosurgery practice.
ew mammography and bone density screening mobile imaging vans make it easier for patients to
« Nreceive
needed screenings by bringing the services closer to where people work and live.

Overwhelmed with Multitasking?
BOSCOBEL
Are you constantly trying to multitask?
Feel like you’re being pulled in all directions? Instead, try reducing your stress by
focusing your attention on the task at hand:
Screen out distractions. Start by turning off the TV,
putting down your phone and logging out of email.
Plan for peaks and valleys. Are you a morning person?
Use it to tackle projects that require your full concentration. Low energy in the afternoon? That’s the time to go
through your inbox or catch up on your filing.
Put it out of your mind. Too many mental notes make
for a cluttered mind. Put whatever’s on your mind on
paper or capture it digitally. Think of it as off-site storage.
