New Pay Types for AFM

The following three new payment types have been added to the Talent
system for AFM:
• MVM (Move Music)
• NIM (New Internet Music)
• IHM (In Home Music)
Pay type MVM
An MVM payment is for the Internet/New Media use of a Broadcast
commercial. MVM payments are only valid for AFM union performers and
Media type T (Television), R (Radio), and C (Made for cable) commercials.

When making a payment, you will need to select one of the two cycle length
options, which are 8 weeks and 1 year. The following applies to these cycle
length options:
• The 8-weeks cycle rate is equal to the 8-weeks cycle rate for the MUS/
Pay’s DUB fee option.
• The 1-year cycle rate is equal to the 13-weeks cycle rate for the MUS/
Pay’s DUB fee option.
Note
The MVM rates only apply to the contract year 2010 for the 8-weeks cycle
and the contract years 2004, 2007, and 2010 for the 1-year cycle.
Therefore, payment amounts to performers with different contract years will
have to be manually entered.

Pay type NIM
An NIM payment is for the Internet/New Media use of a commercial made
for Internet, New Media, or both. NIM payments are only valid for AFM
union performers and Media type N (New Media) and I (Internet)
commercials. Displayed below is the NIM Pay screen.

When making a payment, you will need to select one of the three cycle
length options, which are 8 weeks, 6 months, and 1 year. The following
applies to these cycle length options:
• The 6-months cycle rate and the 1-year cycle rate are equal to the 13weeks cycle rate for the MUS/Pay’s DUB fee option.
• The 8-weeks cycle rate is equal to the 8-weeks cycle rate for an NBM
(Non-Broadcast Music) payment, which is 38% of the 1-year cycle rate
for an NIM payment.

The NIM rates only apply to the contract year 2010 for the 8-weeks cycle
and the contract years 2004, 2007, and 2010 for the 6-months and 1-year
cycle. Therefore, payment amounts to performers with different contract
years will have to be manually entered.

NIM payment.

Pay type IHM
An IHM payment is for the use of a commercial in videocassettes and other
devices for the home video market, e.g.,CD-ROM and DVD. IHM payments
are only valid for AFM union performers and Media type T, R, C, I, and N
commercials. Displayed below is the IHM Pay screen.

There is unlimited use for this pay type, therefore, only a cycle start date
needs to be entered. Two use options are available on the Pay screen,
which are Theatrical Motion Pictures and Other. For Theatrical Motion
Pictures, enter Y or X in the Under 1M field if the initial release is less than
one million copies. Enter Y or X in the 1M and Over field if the initial release
is one million or more copies. For Other, enter Y or X in the Non Theatrical
field if the initial release of copies is non-theatrical. The following applies to
these options:
• The rates for the Under 1M option and the Non Theatrical option are
equal to the rate for two MUS/Pay Dub fees.
• The rate for the 1M and Over option is equal to the rate for four MUS/
Pay Dub fees.
Note
The IHM rates only apply to the 2004, 2007, and 2010 contract years.
Therefore, payment amounts to performers with different contract years will
have to be manually entered.

Note
MVM, NIM, and IHM will not appear on the advices. Therefore, a comment
will need to be added when paying an advice for MVM, NIM, and IHM use.

Adding Advices in PC Talent
•
MVM, NIM, and IHM will not appear on the advices in the PC Talent system. Therefore, a comment will need to
be added when paying an advice for MVM, NIM, and IHM use. In order to do so, add these payments as OTH
(Other) and add specifics pertaining to the use type.
Displayed below is an example of an 8-week MVM (Internet/New Media) advice in PC Talent.
Note
MVM, NIM and IHM are not currently available in the Easy Estimating system.
