Complete integration of components The new series has a general design philosophy that allows for complete integration of optional components. And with a selection of buoyancy, different closure types (buckles), cover materials, colours and a host of accessories, you can configure a lifejacket according to specific needs. SOLAS regulations According to regulations, all lifejackets must come with a light, whistle, reflective tape, lifting strap, buddy line and two automatic inflation systems. For added safety VIKING has mounted a crotch strap on all lifejackets as well. The higher the Newton number (N) the higher the buoyancy. Rule of thumb: For general use, select 180N. For situations when extra weight is carried, select 275N. As asymmetrical chambers offer faster and better turning capabilities, select a 275N asymmetrical when extra weight is carried, e.g. heavy tool belts. VIKING offers two types of inflation systems: Choices n Halkey Roberts n Hammar About Halkey Roberts The Halkey Roberts inflation system activates the lifejacket when in contact with water (or when strap is pulled). It is mounted on the outside of the buoyancy chamber, which makes it very easy to service. About Hammar Used in industries where water splashes are common. The lifejacket inflates when under hydrostatic pressure (10 cm below water surface) or when strap is pulled. About Manual Activation takes place manually by rotation of the light glass.
