1. How to apply the Productivity Tables

1. How to apply the Productivity Tables
Following each specification, there is a matrix identifying the following:
Column 1 – Area Type – i.e. offices, washrooms, etc, plus the size of a possible building in
square metres/feet (00/000 m2/sq.ft.) as an example.
Column 2 - % Of Building – identifies the generic average percentage of a given building
within the selected classification (e.g. an office block will have considerably more office
space that an industrial unit).
Column 3 – m2/sq.ft. Calculates the total square metres/square feet dedicated to the
particular classification of area within the building as determined by the percentage stated in
the previous column. (e.g. 743 m2/8,000sq.ft. represents 80% of a building of 929
m2/10,000 sq.ft.)
Column 4 – Represents the industry average productivity rate and equals the amount of
square metres/square feet one operative would clean in one hour for that particular ‘type’ of
area. (e.g. washroom cleaning would attract a much lower productivity rate than an office
area because of the complexity of the tasks required).
Column 5 – Indicates the time (in minutes) required to produce an acceptable standard in
the said area and is calculated by dividing the size of the area to be cleaned by the
productivity rate assigned to that area.
Column 6 – Indicates the mean average productivity rate for the ‘type’ of building and is
calculated by dividing the amount of time spent to clean the building by the total size of the
building.
