How to Dissolve Triacontanol, How to make a Triacontanol Solution
This will give you a 1 gallon, ready to use solution of Triacontanol: 100 PPM
1. Weigh 0.42g TRIA 90% into a microwavable safe glass container.
2. Add 5ml polysorbate 20.
3. Add 15ml of distilled water or reverse osmosis water.
4. Microwave for 30 seconds and stir (Caution! Solution will boil and will be hot!)
5. Microwave for 30 sec and stir, TRIA should now be dissolved, If not, repeat step 5
6. Add the 20ml TRIA concentrate to 3765ml of distilled water or reverse osmosis water.
NOTE: If you take a gallon of water and remove 20ml, you have 3765ml.
7. Shake well!




If you desire to spray 100 PPM onto your plant, you would put this mixture into a foliar
sprayer and spray directly onto the plants. FYI, the polysorbate 20 will work just fine as
a surfactant, or leaf penetrator.
If you only want 25 PPM, add the mixture to 4gallons of water, or if 10 PPM is your
desired target, add this mixture to 10 gallons. ETC…..
If more than a 100 PPM are desired, you would add more triacontanol in your original
solution.
Example: Say you wanted a 250 PPM 3785ml/1gal ready to use solution of TRIA you
would use this math: 250/100 = 2.5 x.42 = 1.05 grams of TRIA to make a 3785ml/1gal
ready to use feed solution of TRIA.

1. Powder Triacontanol (TRIA) 80% or 90% pure will work, you use such a small amount that it
doesn’t make a difference.
FYI: We are the cheapest source of triacontanol in the USA, and we ship for free.
2. Water. You only need 15ml-120ml of water. Reverse osmosis or distilled water works best.
3. Glass stirrer, wood stick, like a popsicle stick, or a metal spoon to stir the water and triacontanol
together.
4. A jewelry scale that can measure .01grams.
5. A microwave.
6. A microwavable safe glass container.
Things to consider when choosing your mixing bowl:
A. If container is too SMALL when you put mixture in the microwave, it will boil over and make a
mess in the microwave.
B. If container is too BIG, the direction on how much water and polysorbate20 to use to dissolve
the TRIA won’t be accurate and you will not have enough polysorbate20 and water to dissolve
it.
C. Must be MICROWAVE SAFE GLASS!
The containers we use:
1. To dissolve up to 1 gram of triacontanol: PYREX® 6-oz 175ml Dessert Dish Set

1. Weigh out the exact amount of triacontanol you need and place it in the MICROWAVE
SAFE glass container. (See the CHART on page 11)
2. Measure out the exact amount of polysorbate 20 and water you need to dissolve the
triacontanol and place it in the MICROWAVE SAFE glass container.(See the CHART
on page 10)

3. Microwave the ingredients on high in the glass container for 30seconds.(1st time)
4. Remove from the microwave. (See example pic on page 12)
FYI: You will see a lot of the powder has worked its way up the side of the glass.
5. Use your stick, or spoon, like a spatula to remove the powder from the side of container
pushing it back into the liquid.
(USE CAUTION! The solution will be boiling and glass will be hot).
No need to stir the solution after the 1st trip in and out of the microwave it’ll just make a
mess.
6. Place the glass container back in the microwave on high for another 30seconds.(2nd time)
7. Remove from the microwave. You will see the powder starting to break up. Stir it up very
well (USE CAUTION! Solution will be boiling and glass will be hot). (See example
pic on page13)
8. Place the glass container back in the microwave on high for another 30seconds. (3rd time)
9. Remove from the microwave. (USE CAUTION! Solution will be boiling and glass
will be hot). (See example pic on page14)
FYI:
Solution will now look clearer, except for a thin, foamy, bubbly, film layer that will be on the
top surface of the liquid. FYI this is the NON dissolved TRIA. Stir it up real well.
10. Place the glass container back in the microwave on high for another 30seconds. (4th time)
11. Remove and DO NOT STIR! (USE CAUTION! Solution will be boiling and glass
will be hot). (See example pic on page 15)
FYI:
Now after 4 times in the microwave, you should have a clear liquid.
IF NOT repeat step 10-11, but if done correctly, there will be NO POWDER VISIBLE,
and water should be almost crystal clear looking. (See example pic on page 16)
12. Let solution cool, and do not stir. After a few minutes (5-15) you will notice the color
of the solution change from a clear liquid, to a white paste. The longer you let the
solution cool the more it changes into a paste. (See example pic on page 17&18)
FYI: Once this paste is mixed into water it quickly dissolves.
13. You now have a HIGHLY concentrated, fully dissolved white paste triacontanol solution
FYI: There is a company out of the U.K. that sells triacontanol in a paste form, and all you
have to do is add it to your nutrients. This is the same paste that you are making.
14. Now it’s your decision to make a ready to use feed solution, or a concentrated solution
that you can use multiple times. (See page4)

The First question you need to ask yourself is: “How do I want to use this solution?”
All at once = Feed Solution
Small amounts at a time added to feed water = Concentrated Solution
1.
Feed solution: A feed solution is a low ppm solution that is made with the sole intentions
of feeding your plants with it. A feed solution is not stored, and is at a ready to use strength.
Pros:
 You don’t waste any since you make exactly what you need.
 No need to worry about any solution spoiling when you’re going to use it all immediately.
Cons:
 You have to make this solution every time you want to use it. For those who don’t use it often,
this isn’t a big deal, but what if you use TRIA with every feed? That would be every day, or a few
times a week you’re making a TRIA solution. Think about how inconvenient that would be.
 If you use low PPM or small amounts of triacontanol, you will find it very difficult to measure out
.00001g of triacontanol.
Leaving you with only one other option: Making a Concentrated Solution
2.
Concentrated solution: A concentrated solution is made very strong, so that you can
take a few milliliters of solution and add it to a gallon of water to achieve your desired feeding
PPM.
Pros:


You can make 1 concentrate and use it several times.
Convenience: This is just like going to the hydro store and grabbing a bottle off their shelves.
You just take it home, shake it up, and use a few ml/gallon. Now obviously you have to make the
concentrate, or buy it from us, but you get the idea… It’s very easy to use once it’s made!
Cons:
 Can spoil or go bad. Keeping the concentrate in a dark cool place will help keep this from
happening, or at least it will last longer.
FYI: You can also add potassium benzoate, or sodium benzoate, to the mix. These are food grade
preservatives that can help keep the concentrate from spoiling.

1. Dissolved Triacontanol paste. (See How Do I Dissolve Triacontanol) (See page 2-3)
2. 250ml glass beaker(preferred), if you don’t have a glass beaker a glass measuring cup can work,
however this can be an inaccurate way to precisely measure out liquids.
3. 4000ml jug, or container, or bigger.
FYI: A 4000-5000ml glass beaker is preferred since it has accurate measurements painted along the side,
but at this size they can be expensive.
4. 1 gallon of distilled water, or for those of you that have reverse osmosis filters, you can use the R.O.
water for free… FYI the distilled water comes with its own 4000ml jug, and you can buy distilled
water for about $1.50, SO THE CHOICE IS YOURS….
5. Glass stirrer, wood stick, like a popsicle stick or a toothpick, or a metal spoon, to mix the dissolved
triacontanol and water together.
6. A jewelry scale that can measure .01grams.
7. A microwave or a stove to boil the water.
8. A permanent marker, like a sharpie.
1. Take the dissolved Triacontanol paste. (See How Do I Dissolve Triacontanol), and add it to the
250ml glass beaker.
2. Slowly add VERY HOT distilled or reverse osmosis water, into the beaker, and stir in the
dissolved Triacontanol paste. Keep filling the water up until you reach the 250ml mark.
3. Stir it up very well.
4. If done correctly, there will be NO POWDER VISIBLE, and water should be almost
crystal clear looking, but can be slightly cloudy if you used a lot of triacontanol.
5. Take your empty 4500-5000ml beaker and pour in your 250ml mix.
6. Fill the beaker the rest of the way to 3785ml/1gallon mark on the beaker with DISSTILED or
R.O. Water.
7. Stir it up very well.
8. You now have a 1 gallon solution of triacontanol.
FYI:
As previously stated in the “What’s The Difference Between a Feed Solution and a Concentrated
Solution?” You decide what you’re making, a feed solution or a concentrated solution? Mixing
them is the same, but the amount of triacontanol is higher in the concentrated solution.

1. Buy a store bought 1 gallon bottle of distilled water.
2. Take a sharpie permanent marker and mark the water level on the side of the 1 gallon jug
prior to taking any water out.
FYI:
Most of the bottled water companies use a machine to fill these containers, so basically you can
believe they’re all filled at the same amounts, and that they’re very close to 3785ml/1gallon.
3. Take out 100ml from the store bought gallon of distilled water and place it to the side. This
will be the water you use to top off your solution with, and the remainder gets thrown
away.
4. Measure out 200ml from the store bought gallon of distilled water.
USE a hydro store measuring cup, or kitchen measuring cup. 30ml, 60ml, 10ml WHAT EVER
YOU HAVE…
5. Boil the 200ml of water, or get it VERY HOT.
6. Mix the dissolved triacontanol paste with the 200ml VERY HOT water.
7. Add your 200ml of water and the triacontanol paste mix back into the gallon jug you bought
at the store.
8. Shake it up very well!!!
9. Take the 100ml of water you set aside earlier and pour it back into the store bought jug until
you reach the “sharpie mark”. Discard whatever’s left out of the 100ml.
10. Shake this very well!!!
11. You now have a 1 gallon solution of triacontanol.
FYI:
As previously stated in the “What’s the difference between a feed solution and a concentrated
solution,” You decide what you’re making, a feed solution or a concentrated solution. Mixing them is
the same, but the amount of triacontanol is higher in the concentrated solution.

How Many Ppms of Triacontanol Should I Feed My Plants?
FYI:
Recommended PPM per feed, or plant species, can vary!
It is totally up to each gardener to figure out their plants happy spot, or to fine tune the exact amount of
PPM per feed you’re going to supply the plants with so you can yield the maximum benefits of using
triacontanol.
With that said, please use the below info as a guideline to help you find that sweet spot.
1. If you add triacontanol to your reservoir, foliar spray daily, or with every feed, use: .01 – 1.0
PPM.
2. If you foliar feed, add to the reservoir, or drench feed, once every 2-4 weeks, 1-25 PPM is a
standard range.
FYI:
Don’t worry too much about finding what the perfect amount of TRIA to feed your plant is. If you stay in
the above ranges you CANNOT hurt the plants.
There are 2 rewards that can be gained by finding the exact amount of triacontanol that is needed.


You won’t waste any triacontanol. Example: If .05 PPM of triacontanol is your plant sweets
spot, you would be wasting triacontanol by feeding your plants 1.0 PPM
You maximize the benefits that triacontanol provides. Example: If you are underusing the
product, you take the risk of not gaining the full benefits. (VERY RARE)
How Many Grams of Triacontanol Do I Need To Make a Concentrate?
1. There are 3785.4mls in a gallon of water, so you need to figure out how many grams of
triacontanol you want each ml to represent.
2. Strength of the concentrate depends solely on how much you are going to use every time. Keep
in mind, concentrates can go bad over time, so the best thing is to make one that will last you 13 months.
FYI:
You can add preservatives, keep the solution out of light, and keep it in a cool spot to help you prevent
the concentrations from spoiling.
3. For the rest of this ANSWER we will be making a 5000PPM concentration of triacontanol.
4. Go the “How Much Triacontanol Do I Add to Achieve a Desired Ppm” chart (Page11)
5. See how many grams it takes to accomplish 5000 PPM of 90% pure TRIA in 1 gallon of water.
The ANSWER IS 21 grams. FYI some math was needed since the chart stopped at 1000 PPM.
Math that was done: 4.2g =1000 PPM But we need 5000 PPM, so 4.2g x 5 = 21g

6. Next you need to follow the mixing instructions (See pages 5&6) for mixing a1 gallon
concentrate.
7. You now have a 5000 PPM gallon concentrate of triacontanol.
8. You can add citric acid to the concentrate as a Ph down until a Ph of 5.8-6.0 is reached.
FYI:
We adjust the Ph of all our concentrates to 5.8-6.0. Some people choose to use potassium
hydroxide as a Ph up to adjust their triacontanol concentrates to 7.0-8.0) CHOICE IS YOURS!
How Do I Use a Triacontanol Concentrate?
EXAMPLE 1: Let’s make it a 5000 PPM concentrate of triacontanol.
First, let’s find out how many PPM of triacontanol are represented in each 1ml:
1. Take your 1 gallon 5000 PPM concentrate, and break it down like this:
 3785ml of water (FYI we rounded down the exact amount of ml in a gal = 3785.4118)
 5000 Ppm of triacontanol
MATH EXAMPLE: 3785ml/5000 Ppm = 1.32 PPM are represented in each 1ml of the 5000 PPM
triacontanol concentrate.
EXAMPLE 2: Let’s find out how many ml of triacontanol concentrate should be used to achieve a target
of 1.0 PPM of Triacontanol in a 40 gallon reservoir:
1. Take the 40 gallons from the feed reservoir and multiply that by 1.0Ppm: So 40gal X 1.0 PPM =
40 PPM of triacontanol is needed.
2. Now you know from the first example 1.32 PPM are represented in every 1ml of the
concentrate, so you divide 1.32 into the 40 PPM you require, and you get 30.3ml
MATH EXAMPLE: 40/1.32= 30.30ml
3. Now you would add 30.3ml of your concentrate to the 40 gallons of Reverse Osmosis
water to achieve 1 PPM of triacontanol.
4. Then add your nutrients and additives like you normally would.
5. Adjust the Ph to your typical level.
6. Now feed the plants like you normally would.

I want to feed 25 PPM of triacontanol (90%) to my plants through my
hydroponic system, and my reservoir holds 50gallons. What’s the best
way to accomplish this?
You need to make a feed solution. Follow the instructions below to accomplish this:
1. Go the “How Much Triacontanol Do I Add to Achieve a Desired Ppm” chart (Page11)
2. See how many grams it takes to accomplish 25 PPM of 90% pure TRIA in 1 gallon of water. The
ANSWER IS: 0.105g
3. Now take 0.105g X 50 gallons = 5.25g of triacontanol
4. Next take the 5.28 grams and dissolve it. (See page 2&3)
5. Next follow the how to make a triacontanol concentrate instructions. (See pages 5&6)
6. Once the triacontanol solution is made, you add the full gallon of solution to 49 Gallons
of Reverse Osmosis water. Yielding you 50 gallons of triacontanol @ 25 PPM.
7. Then add your nutrients and additives like you normally would.
8. Adjust the Ph to your typical level.
9. Now feed the plants like you normally would.
As you probably noticed, this was a lot easier than making 50 individual
gallons jugs @ 25 PPM.
1. You can buy the pure powder hormones or alternatively you can choose to buy the pre-made,
ready to go, stock concentrated solutions in 1000ml, and 4000ml quantities From US.
FYI:
Our pre-made stock solutions are made very strong so the customer can use a very small amount (1-5ml
per gallon) to achieve their desired Ppms
2. You can use triacontanol, nutrients, and additives at the same time to feed your plants. This also
means it’s okay to add triacontanol to your feed reservoirs, feed water, foliar sprays, drench
feeds etc…
3. Polysorbate is a surfactant. Surfactants help the water penetrate through the leaves so the plant
can quickly, and evenly, absorb the nutrients and additives you are feeding them.
Without using surfactants, most of the water sprayed on the foliage would run off the leaves and onto
the ground, and the water that does stay on the leaves would have a hard time penetrating the leaves
protective skin.
You can quickly see that without using a surfactant you are really wasting your time and money foliar
spraying. The good news is that you use enough polysorbate when making the triacontanol solution that
you have enough surfactant in the solution to achieve this penetration, so YOU DO NOT NEED TO ADD
MORE, and this saves you money.
4. We use a dedicated microwave for chemistry, dissolving etc... We don’t use same one for our
food. We recommend you do the same thing!

No need to stir the polysorbate and the triacontanol since this is the 1st time in the microwave and they
are just starting to blend.
As you can see, some of the powder rose up the side when it was boiling in the microwave. Just use your
spoon, stirrer, or stick as a spatula and scrape off the sides, as you push the powder back into the liquid.
Don’t worry too much about it. The next few times it boils in the microwave all the power will be pulled
back into the liquid and it will get dissolved.

bubbles. Just stir it up and put it back in the microwave for
another 30 seconds.

As you can see, the triacontanol is fully dissolved. I know you can still see tiny
bubbles, but that is no longer powder, instead it is just the polysorbate. It likes to
bubble.
DO NOT STIR let it just cool down and turn into the paste/gel.

Triacontanol after 5 times of heating it in the microwave, and then
letting it cool for 5 minutes.
As you can see, the clear liquid is starting to form a white paste just
from cooling 3-5 minutes!
It’s actually still very wet, but gel like as well.
FYI the longer you let it dry the thicker/drier the paste will become.

Triacontanol after 5 times of heating it in the microwave, and then
letting it cool for 15 minutes.
It went from a clear liquid to a white paste. This is after 15-20mins
from the last time the liquid was taken out of the microwave.
The consistency is like Elmer’s® glue.
This is ready to use now, or you can save it for a few days then use.
If you want to use it in a few weeks we recommend you store it in an
air tight container. FYI the Pyrex® 1cup containers we use come
with a lid.
