Its mission is to bridge the gap between research and industrial application with a strong focus on small and medium sized enterprises (SME). The IAO (Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering), one of the biggest Fraunhofer Institutes, works directly with companies involved in innovation on projects from concept development to implementation covering the areas of organisation, technology and human factors. It has worked with most of the major German Companies as e.g. Daimler Chrysler, BMW, Bosch, Siemens, Deutsche Telekom as well as with a large number of SMEs. Working with these companies in Europe on Innovation and Technology Management for more than 20 years it has developed extensive knowledge on delivering innovative, pragmatic solutions to industry. The IAO expertise covers all industrial sectors from automotive, electronics, IT, consumer goods to equipment manufacturers and service providers. This series of seminars uses a practical handson mode, where participants will learn from tools and methods devised by Fraunhofer based on their extensive experience. The other seminars in the series will cover l effective product and service development using the latest methods and tools and l developing integrated business and technology strategies to sustain competitive advantage. Frank Wagner Frank Wagner graduated as Dipl.-Ing of Technical Cybernetics from University of Stuttgart and is responsible for the Competence Centre R&D-Management at the Fraunhofer IAO. He has extensive experience in successful R&D, Innovation and Technology Management projects with SMEs in Europe, Asia and South America. He lectures in Technology Management at University of Stuttgart and supports the European Commission and the Swiss Government as a consulting expert. This Seminar Fraunhofer will demonstrate how to improve the Innovation Process from idea generation to concept development. Participants will learn about the latest approaches used in smart Innovation management, the methods and tools used in a wide range of industrial cases.
