For each programme stream, a distinct University has been
identified to coordinate programme specific activities. Presently
the IGCHE consists of six different German Universities and
the number is expected to increase in near future.
Every student of the programme is assured of admission to
one of the German Universities that are the members of the
IGCHE (Subject to satisfactory academic performance).
All IGCHE Universities are accredited to assure high quality
education and have a strong international focus. Due to the
small number of students per University, they are assured of
intensive support and mentoring.

Why study in Germany ?
Although English is a must, German is a plus.
A recent British Council survey
has revealed that German
higher education institutions
are the most internationalized
ones.
Most people regard English as essential, but knowing another foreign language can improve one’s career opportunities
in a globalised world. That’s why learning German language
(DAAD) is a good idea!
This ranking compares the
higher education systems in
12 countries on various factors
such as accessibility, support
for foreign students, quality and reputation of degrees worldwide,
and the extent of mobility of University academics to study.

The table below shows the average costs you can expect
as a student in Germany. However additional costs like the
flight to Germany, a fee for the visa application and tuition
fees of about 250 Euros for one semester (transportation
ticket included) are not included.
During your stay there will not only be costs but also a
possibility to earn income. Due to less contact hours in
German Universities, compared to Indian Universities, the
students will have time for a job.
Many students in Germany take a part-time job to
supplement their parental allowance, financial aid or
scholarships.
German is one of the most important scientific languages and is
shared by over 125 million people worldwide.
Electrical
Engineering
In order to get entry into Germany, students need to prove
their financial support. It is required to certify at least 7 776
Euros at one‘s disposal for one year.
Studying and Living in Germany
The safety in German cities is very high on international
rankings. The police can always be asked for help and advice
and can be called for free from every phone by dialing 110.
Our current Universities are all located in safe areas and
comparably small cities. Currently the biggest city of our
consortium is Düsseldorf with 580,000 inhabitants which
is small compared to more than 1 million inhabitants in
Coimbatore and 4.2 million in Chennai.
As a student you will get a public transport ticket for travelling
in a large area around your University (usually the whole state)
without additional costs. Germany has a very dense and good
public transport system. Therefore you can visit other cities for
sightseeing, shopping and other fun activities without paying
additional money. There will be differences depending on the
University and the city you will be in.
All Universities of Applied Sciences have similar facilities on
the campus:
•
Cafeteria
•
Library
•
Computer centres
•
Sport programmes
•
International Office
Students from non-EU countries are allowed to work 90
full days or 180 half days without a work permit. In most
cases you can also expect a payment for your internship.
The salary depends on the size of the company and other
variables, so it is not possible to give exact figures. Based
on experience, it can be as much as 400 € per month.
