How to create a
Windows shortcut
When accessing the Espresso Primary service online, many customers ﬁnd it useful to create
a desktop shortcut pointing to the login page, in order to limit the time taken to get onto
Espresso Primary.
Step 1 of 2 – Creating the shortcut
a)
Right click on the desktop and select New > Shortcut

Enter the following URL into the location ﬁeld provided:
http://online.espresso.co.uk
https://online.espresso.co.uk
c)
Select Next and enter a name for your shortcut e.g. Espresso online and then select Finish.
A shortcut should now have been placed onto your desktop.

Step 2 of 2 – Creating a new shortcut icon
If you would also like to change the icon for your shortcut then please follow these instructions.
a) Browse to the Espresso Education web page: www.espresso.co.uk/support/icons
b) Right Click and choose Save target as...

Give the shortcut a name e.g Espresso icon and make sure the ﬁle type is
InfanView ICO ﬁle (we recommend you save it on to your desktop as it will be easy to ﬁnd)
Please note: If you intend to copy the shortcut around the school then you will
need to save the icon to a shared location to which all users will have access.
d) Now go back to your desktop shortcut created in Step 1 and right click on it and
select Properties.
e) From the Web document tab of the properties window select the option for Change Icon
f) Browse to the location of the saved Espresso icon ﬁle and open the icon
g) Click OK and then Apply
Congratulations! You have now personalised your Espresso Primary shortcut with an icon.

as necessary. Alternatively, speak to your schools network support about getting these
rolled out for all your PCs.
