How to use this book

How to use this book
The book has 20 pages.
Please consider the environment when printing pages.
The first ten (10) pages are information you can read on your computer.
Regular division events are first in order of play dates.
When you find the page you want to print click on “File” / print.
A page will appear with the name of your computer printer.
The next option box down you are given 3 or 4 choices.
Choose the option to print “current page” or “pages from” and give the page numbers.
You also have the ability enter events by the internet using PayPal. We have reduced the
fees to $2.00 per event in addition to the entry fee. We are encouraging this option due to
the increased cost of printing and mail.
If you should have any questions please do not hesitate to call the office 673-4653 or my
cell at 775-846-8263. You can also email me at [email protected]
Thank you for your cooperation and hope to see you at NNGA events.

How to Enter a NNGA Tournament.
There are three (3) ways to enter a NNGA tournament.
1. Use this booklet. Find the tournament you want to play, go to the page with the entry form, cut it out, fill it
in, and mail it with payment to the address on the form. Please print clearly and fill out all information. We are not
responsible for the timely delivery of the USP or other couriers. No special mail handling such as return receipt or
signature required please.
2. Go to www.nnga.org and click on the schedule of your choice. The information about the tournament is
linked to the name of the tournament. You will find a form that you can print out and mail with payment to:
NNGA P.O. Box 5607 Reno NV 89513. This is not an online sign up.
3. Online credit card sign up. The NNGA is using PayPal as a secure form of online payments. We are able
to accept more types of payments by using PayPal. There is a $2.00 charge per person for credit card usage and is
included with the online sign up price. (Reduced in 2011)
Hint, if you’re on the deadline date when you decide to enter; credit card is the sure way.
USGA events are entered online at www.usga.org/championships. NNGA is not responsible for USGA deadline
errors.
2012 Information
NNGA Tournaments - will now use a 6 month rolling L.I. (lowest index) instead of a 12 month L.I.
NNGA Prize Funds - The NNGA will now issue prize vouchers for NNGA Event & State Event merchandise winners
held in Northern Nevada. This will give players the opportunity to redeem the vouchers at the hosting golf course or
accumulate merchandise credits by applying them to their local “green grass” club account. (The exception will be
the two Elko tournaments due to special pricing arrangements). Players also have the option to use the credits at all
participating NNGA member clubs. The NNGA Gift Card will be issued at each event or sent to the players and are
not redeemable for cash. The participating golf club list will be posted on the NNGA website. Sorry, but we cannot
redeem certificates for NNGA tournament entries.
Nevada State Net Amateur Championship - The Nevada State Net Championship will be held at Cascata GC on
August 4-6 and will combine the State Net Amateur & State Net Match Play into one tournament. Modeled after
USGA Amateur events. There will be two days of stroke play on Aug. 4th & 5th to determine the 8 player bracket.
Those 8 players will proceed to match play following the qualifier. The top 8 qualifiers will play an 18-hole match play
round following the final qualifier round. On the third day the 4 players remaining will play an 18-hole match in the
morning with the final 2 players battling for the championship in an 18-hole match that afternoon. All players will play
a minimum of 2 rounds (3 with discounted practice round). There will be prizes based on full field participation. There
is a new points list for this event see the NNGA web site. There will be 30 spots available to each association for a
total of 60 entries. We will do all we can to accommodate more entries if needed.
Northern Nevada Net Championship - The Northern Nevada Net Championship will be held May 5-6 at Lakeridge
GC and will include three divisions of play regular net, senior blue net, and senior silver net. There will be two days of
stroke play on May 5 & 6 followed by a cut to proceed to match play. The match play rounds will take place on June
2nd & 3rd at Dayton Valley GC to determine each flights champion. Match Play participants will include 8 players
from the regular net division, 4 players from the senior blue net, and 4 players from the silver senior net division. The
regular net champions will receive their entry fee into the Northern Nevada Amateur tournament (net). The senior blue
net champion and senior silver net champion will receive their entry fee into the Northern Nevada Senior Amateur
tournament (net). Check the NNGA web site for more details.
Cobb Whalen Cup Matches - The 2012 Cup Matches will be reduced to 12 players (4 scratch & 8 net). The 12 players
will come strictly from the points list. There will no longer be captain picks. The 2012 Cobb Whalen will be held at
Thunder Canyon CC September 8-10.
Nevada State Match Play - (Scratch) Will be held at Somersett CC on August 6-8.
Northern Nevada Amateur - Will be held at Sierra Sage GC on June 23-24 and return to rotating sites for future events.
The tournament will also return to 36-holes for both scratch and net.
Nevada State Senior - Senior players must now declare which division they will compete, scratch or net. Washoe County Senior - New event started in 2011 that will be held again at Sierra Sage GC.
Reno Sparks City Championship - Outside event run by Rosewood Lakes. Points will be the same as Washoe County,
full points for scratch & half points for net.

2012 schedule for qualifier tournaments.
Please read this before entering the State Match Play
There is no longer a day of play, stand-by waiting list. The association can, but is not obligated, to fill the spot from
a waiting list up until 12:00 noon the day before the event. A player that drops out of the event after the 12 noon
deadline on the day before the start of competition, in addition to the loss of match, the improper withdrawal from
match play will result in the forfeiture of next years eligibility.
Match Play Qualifying (Scratch Only)
16 players each from the NNGA & SNGA: Points lists for exempt players are maintained on the NNGA web site.
The previous years Champion and runner up are automatically qualified along with the top 8 players from the match
play points list. Exempt players must declare they will participate. If exempt players do not declare intention, their
spot will go to the qualifier pool. The match play qualifier will determine the remaining players. Qualifier entry
fees must be submitted with entry into the Northern Nevada Amateur with match play qualifier. When successfully
qualified, the balance of tournament fees will be due by deadline (see web site). Players will receive information at
the qualifier site. Fees must be paid by the deadline for both exempt and qualifying players. All open spot(s) will go
to the next alternate(s).
State Amateur Qualifying (Scratch Only)
30 players each from NNGA & SNGA. Points lists for exempt players are maintained on the NNGA web site. Any
player who placed in the top 10 from the previous years Nevada State Amateur is automatically qualified for the next
years Nevada State Amateur. The top 10 from the State Amateur points list are automatically qualified. Exempt
players must declare they will participate. If you do not declare, the open spot will go to the qualifier pool. The
State Amateur Qualifier Tournament will determine the remaining number of qualifiers. Qualifier entry fees must be
submitted with the entry into the 2012 Capital City Classic with state amateur qualifier. When successfully qualified,
the balance will be due (see web site for dates). If fees are not paid by the deadline for both exempt and qualifying
players the open spot(s) will go to the next alternate(s).
State Mid-Amateur
Players will play without handicap (20 players from the north, 20 from the south): Points lists for exempt players are
maintained on the NNGA web site. The top four finishers from the previous years event are exempt, also the top 10
from the points list. To be eligible you must be at least 25 years old by the first day of the tournament and have an
index of 10.0 or better. There will not be a qualifier, non-exempt players will be accepted in order of receipt. If the
