Welcome to our new training programme
for parent carers of disabled children and
those with Special Educational Needs
for 2013-2014.
We want the best for our children whether they
are disabled or not. We need to be more expert
and knowledgeable to help our disabled children
because of the wide range of additional needs they
may have.
PARENT CARER TRAINING 2013/2014
This new training programme which we will be
running for the next three terms aims to help parent
carers become more expert and empowered with
practical help and knowledge. All of the training
will provide information to take away with you so
that you have it to hand when you need it.
The training will help you to become more expert
and empowered in relation to:
• individual issues that we will cover in one session
(our bite sized training) and
• areas that require more in-depth knowledge
(our training courses). The training courses run for
a period of 6-8 weeks and require attendance at
each one. We will finish the training courses with a
celebration of all that we have learnt.
In the Autumn Term 2013, our bite sized training
covers sleep, behaviour etc and our first training
course covers language and communication. These
will help parent carers understand these issues and
how children speak and communicate (and why
they may find that hard) as well as practical tips for
helping our children be the best they can be.
Booking is essential – details are at the end of
this leaflet.
