KIM’S WORDS
Hello Aotea ladies!
As we come to the close of another Inner Wheel year, I would like to
thank all the committee members- Brenda P, Marg, Linda, Michelle and
Justine for their work keeping the club running during the year. In
particular I would like to thank Brenda for her six years service on the
committee in various roles, and Justine for her three years as ISO. I
think we have had a very social year, in keeping with the year’s theme
of Be A Friend. As friendship is one of the objectives of Inner Wheel, I
think this is a theme we can carry forward into future years, and keep in
mind as we welcome new members into the Club.
We will have a change of committee for the next Inner Wheel year – it is
fabulous that we have some newer members putting their hands up for
committee involvement! However in order for our Club to continue to
move forward, we need two things.
Firstly, we need more members. We currently have only 14 members,
and we need to increase our numbers to invigorate the club and share
committee roles around. We have started planning a full and interesting
programme of monthly meeting speakers, which we hope you will enjoy
and invite friends along too. We will also have materials available at our
meetings to help publicise our club – we hope you will be able to help
with the distribution of the posters and brochures – if we place them
where we work or shop or play, then we hope to attract like-minded
women!
Secondly, we need a Vice President, with a view to moving into the
President’s role in the 2014-15 year. It is crucial to our further growth
that we have members willing to help manage and lead our Club. As VP,
you will serve on the Committee, learning about the President role and
supporting the President. The President’s role is really not too onerous,
but can be an opportunity for you to share your vision for the direction
of the Club. Please consider offering your service as Vice President for
this year. While I can continue in President’s role this year it is
absolutely necessary to have a successor for next year.
I look forward to seeing you at our Changeover meeting on the 27 th
June. We have an exciting and vibrant speaker lined up, so come along
and enjoy, and bring a friend!
Yours in Inner Wheel friendship,
Kim
