“Courage to Connect: Being a Catholic man in a secular world” Why? Who is presenting? Since its inception, the Men’s Club has been and continues to be a volunteer force of great significance at Our Lady of Peace. In fact, our mission is just that; “Men doing great things at Our Lady of Peace”. But you probably knew that already! What you may not know is our more subtle underlying mission is to become better Men of Faith and Soldiers for Christ. John Crudele, certified speaker and coach with the John Maxwell Team, has inspired and challenged more than 2 million listeners with his stories, authenticity and candor. John’s signature humor and relevant messages empower listeners to find genuine fulfillment, both personally and professionally. Founder of Partnership for Youth (which hosts the Steubenville North Conferences), he is a coauthor of “Making Sense of Adolescence” and contributing author to the “Teen Power” series. John worships at Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Louis Park and resides in Savage, MN. Learn more about John here. Through Decuria Schola, our lecture series, we come together in fellowship to celebrate, to learn and to grow. What’s in a name? Decuria - “a body of men or soldiers, a club, a party. Schola - “lecture, debate, learned leisure, dissertation”. We chose the name Decuria Schola specifically for this annual Men’s Club event. The name is Latin, of course. Relax, enjoy delicious food, fine hops & barley beverages, great conversation and listen to renowned speakers. It’s a casual evening where men can be men. Who can attend? All adult Men of the Parish. Invite a neighbor, your Father, Father-in-law, brother, cousin, neighbor’s father, father’s neighbor… you get the idea. Where? Our Lady of Peace – Pates Hall (basement of the church) 5426 12th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55417, 612.824.3455 When? Friday February 21 / 6:00pm pre-lecture social / 6:30 meal (we will be praying grace at 6:30 sharp) / 7:00 Guest Speaker / 8:00 - Post speaker social, desert. Spontaneous dissertations encouraged. February 21, 2014, 6:00 p.m. I’m interested. Now what? Because we are men, and reservations take time and planning, no reservation required. The food and drink will be available until it’s gone. But please pick up the phone and invite someone. There’s no substitute for personal invitation… and the person you invite just might be inspired to do something great. How much? We will take up a free will offering on the evening of the event to help offset the cost of food, drink and speaker. Attire? A Men’s Club Smoking Jacket would be great. Since we don’t have one yet, smoking jacket is optional and attire is casual. Pates Hall, Our Lady of Peace Minneapolis
