Algae spores constantly enter the pool, brought in by wind, rain or even contaminated swimsuits or equipment. The unsightly growth can turn a sparkling pool green overnight. Step 3 Problem • Add Filtrite Extreme Algaecide at 2.5 litres per 50,000 litres of pool water. • Distribute throughout pool • Run filter on recirculate for 2 hours. • For cartridge filters remove cartridge. • Unsightly discolouration • Short filter cycles • Staining of pool interior • Excessive chlorine demand Step 4 Prevention • Proper chemical balance • Removing phosphates from the water • Maintain sanitiser level • Use of a long life algaecide IMPORTANT: Do not use Filtrite Algygone and Filtrite Extreme Algaecide in any pool using an Ironiser or Nature2 or a liquid chlorine feeder. In situations like this, we recommened Filtrite Ultimate Algaecide. • Add Aqua Boost at 500 gms per 25,000 litres. • Premix in bucket and distribute evenly throughout pool. • Alternatively, 15 litres Liquid Chlorine per 25,000 litres pool water can be used. • Run filter for 24 hours on recirculate. • For cartridge filters remove cartridge. Step 5 • The water should appear cloudy. If still green, repeat step 4. • Run Filter for 48 hours on Filter mode. • For Cartridge filters, reinstall cartridge. Step 6 ‘Clean up your green pool by following these simple steps’ Solution • Vacuum sediment from pool floor • Backwash filter as required or clean cartridge using Filtrite Cartridge Cleaner. Step 7 • Add Filtrite Algygone at 1 litre per 50,000 litres to prevent algae growth from recurring. • Use Filtrite Phosphate Eliminator to reduce nutrient level, have water tested for required dose If pool has not cleared in 48 hours, you may need to floc the pool using Filtrite Supa Floc.
