2011
Welcome to the fourth annual Exhibit A: Art by Architects.
We are thrilled to honor, for the second year in a row, COCA
and its Urban Arts Outreach Programs as our beneficiary.
Both Cannon Design and COCA share a common desire to do
something bigger than ourselves. COCA accomplishes this in
our community in a myriad of outstanding ways. We know that
providing arts programming free of charge to 3,000 children,
who would not otherwise have had access to such programs,
is a mission that cannot be sustained without community
contributions. Cannon Design is very excited to assist in the effort.
This year, we again dedicate all the proceeds from sales of
artwork to support the Arts—an endeavor that also reflects who
we are. Architects are artists at heart. This event is based on
the concept that notable architects locally and from around the
world would be willing to donate signed drawings and sketches
for a worthy cause. Our first two Exhibit A events were
devoted to Education, by supporting the compelling mission of
De La Salle Middle School, located in the Ville neighborhood
in north St. Louis, to work with exceedingly challenged young
people. We will continue that legacy with the proceeds of two
pieces of artwork being committed to support their work.
On behalf of all the people who have worked so hard to make
this event a success, we welcome you to Exhibit A.
While the artwork looks good here, it would look even better
in your home.

Exhibit A is Art by Architects. After all, architects draw and sketch and put all forms of
media on paper of any sort almost at any time. Like dinner. Sometimes on things that aren’t
even paper. Like dinner napkins.
Exhibit A offers, for the fourth time in St. Louis, original signed drawings and sketches by
notable architects in St. Louis and from around the world.
It’s all very cool. It’s all by amazing talent. It’s all elegantly framed and ready to hang.
And it is all for a great cause. Buy some!

are the basis of the trust we seek to engender with our
clients—trust which, in turn, fuels the kind of strategic
optimism and courage that permit the exploration of new
possibilities.
As we grow and change, we are devoted to nurturing a
culture where imagination, invention and creative
talent flourish. As a premier firm by most any standard,
we recognize that our continued success relies on
more than just what we have done before; it relies on
what we do next.
In 2007, Cannon Design adopted a hallmark: An Ideas
Based Practice. It signifies our commitment to continuous
advocacy and growing investment in the knowledge,
invention, policies and methodologies that distinguish our
work. We believe that design is far more than the ultimate
object of a project, however extraordinary the object
may be. Design is embedded i≠n why a project exists;
what it does; how it imparts value to all its constituents;
how it may almost inevitably change; how it may even
change the world.
Our portfolio reflects enormous experience and expertise.
Our enduring client relationships reflect our commitment
to principles of collaboration and partnership. Our record
for effective project delivery reflects our unmatched
discipline in the balance of time, cost and quality. All
these things are vital dimensions of our practice; all
We believe in investing in knowledge, in research and in
the exploration of new ideas. We believe this is the basis
of great design and vital to our future, to the future of our
Clients, and indeed to the future of our planet. Come visit
our office at 1100 Clark Avenue in St. Louis. Look around
our City. We’re bringing ideas to life everywhere.
