How to Create Teams:

How to Create Teams:
By clicking on the ‘My Teams’ heading in the left hand column it will take the administrator
into a new area that lists all of the teams that have been created (with a sub heading of the
clubs that you have associated them with).
To add a new team, click on the green button on the top right of the page named ‘+ New
Team’. Fill in all fields in the pop up box and click ‘create’ and the team will be added into
the list.
How to Create Players:
The creation of players can be done one of three ways;
1. Player Registration – Can be done by the organisation administrator or a club
administrator (who has been given access rights by an organisation).
To add a player to the system click on the ‘My Players’ tab in the left-hand column
and click on the ‘New Player’ button. A pop-up box will appear with the required
fields needing to be filled out.
2. Mass Upload – CricHQ can support the mass upload of player information. This will
need to be provided in a CSV format.
3. Game Entry – If a player has not registered through either of the first two options
they can be added through participating in their first fixture (information on how to
do this is in the How to App Section).
How to create Grounds/Pitches:
(General view of ‘My Grounds’ page)
Click on the ‘My Grounds’ tab in the left-hand column to load in the page.
To add a new ground click on the ‘New Ground’ button in the top right of the page, this will
pop up a screen to fill out with the details including ground name, description, image,
country and the location on the map (as seen below).
Once you have tagged where your ground is located, the next step is to tag the pitches on
the ground. To do this you need to click on the map again and a pitch map icon will pop-up
asking you to confirm the pitch name/number (as below).
When you have added the pitch and allocated a number/name to it you need to ‘click out’
of the box by clicking the exit tab in the top right corner.
Administrators can allocate up to 30 pitches on a field (this number can be raised if needed).
The example of a final display is below:
Manual Scorecard:
The administrator can enter the result of a fixture (if not already done so with the CricHQ
app) into the competition management system after the fixture has been completed.
This information is entered in two different ways depending on if you are an organisational
administrator or a club administrator/scorer.
1. Organisation Administrator - Go to the ‘My Competitions’ section in the Manage List
and find the particular fixture you are looking to enter a result for, click on the blue
icon and select the ‘Add Result’ option.
This will take you to a screen that requests the basic match information; this should
load automatically for you to review before you accept the content.
2. Club Administrator/Scorer - Go to the ‘Manual Scorecard’ option in the Manage List
(available to both the organisation administrator, club administrator and verified
scorers).
If this does not load automatically enter in the following:
Fixtures – Select the fixture you would like to enter in the result for.
Home Club/Team – Enter in the club that the home team is playing for, when the club
comes in the search box ensure you click on the correct option so the writing goes green
with a tick next to the writing (this is important so the system recognises the club within the
system).
Then select the team playing in the fixture from the drop down box.
Away Club/Team – Repeat above for away club/team.
Match Type – Enter the type of match the two teams are playing. E.g. T20, One-Day or TwoDay Match. The Match Type Details should then load automatically.
‘Next: Home Players’
Home/Away Team Selection - To select players for the scorecard select them from the list
that appears on the right hand side, this can be done by clicking of the players wanted and
drag/dropping them into the left hand column. This also sets the batting order, this can also
be changed with the click and drag functionality.
This
needs to be done for both the ‘Home Team’ and the ‘Away Team. When completed the
administrator continues by clicking on:
‘Next: Captains and Keepers’
Enter in the Captains and Keeper for both teams in this window by clicking in the drop down
boxes. Also you will be asked to provide information on who won the toss and what they
selected to do in the ‘Match Toss’ section.
(Refer to next page for screenshot).
‘Next: Inning 1’
Once in the ‘Inning 1’ section the administrator is required to enter in all the information of
the players who batted and bowled in the innings.
Enter in extras including wides, no balls, byes, leg byes and penalty runs, the total will auto
generate but is adjustable if needed.
‘Next Inning’
Repeat the same process for the away team for the 2nd innings.
‘GO TO’
This window will display a review of the raw data for the administrator to check all is
correct.
If a mistake has been made click the ‘BACK’ button and make the necessary adjustments, if
all is correct click ‘SUBMIT SCORECARD’.
The system will now display the scorecard for clubs/players to view.
Scoring:
If you are an authorised scorer or manager of a team for a CricHQ fixture you can pull down
a fixture to your CricHQ App.
The App is available free via the Google Play store and the Apple App Store for use on
Android and iOS devices.
Once you have downloaded the app you can log in with your CricHQ account. Enter the
‘Manage’ section of the app and view all of the fixtures that have been assigned to you for
you to score.
If you don’t have access to the internet on gameday then it is through the Manage section
that you can download your fixtures whilst you are connected to the internet for later use
when you’re offline.
Note: If you turn up to the ground with no internet connection you will not be able to
download your fixture onto your device as an internet connection is required for the
download to occur. If you will have access to the internet during the day simply turn up to
the game and you’ll be able to do your preparation at the ground.
To start scoring a CricHQ fixture that has been assigned to you as the team or club manager

grounds, umpires and match types. Check these are correct and the edit them if necessary.
You can now select your players by pressing in to the team and pushing the green ‘select’
button to the right of the players associated to that team. If a player is participating in this
fixture and isn’t on the list you can press the ‘Add Player’ at the top right hand side of the
screen. You can search for the player on CricHQ’s cloud by typing their name into the search
box at the top of the add player screen. If a player has been previously involved in a CricHQ
match he will be available to pull down on to your device ensuring his full career statistics
are maintained.
If the player has not played in a CricHQ match before he will not be on the Cloud and you
will need to create a new player by pressing the ‘+’ button at the top right hand corner of

option.
Note: The dismissal in which people have the most trouble getting to grips with is
recording a run out, when the batsman have completed a run and get run out coming
back for 2 or 3 etc. Even if the batsman completes a run don’t press 1 and then try and
record a dismissal because the app recognises that a ball (off which 1 was scored) was
used. What you need to do is go straight to the wicket button and when you choose [Run
Out] it gives you the option to enter in if a run was completed.

Pitch Maps
Every time a ball is bowled the Pitch Map grid will come up on screen, allowing you to
place the line and length of each delivery on the map. This gives you the capability to
analyse the areas a particular bowler is bowling in. You can turn pitch maps off and on
via the [settings cog]. Alternatively you can pre enter these details when you add a
player under their attributes tab.
You will notice that the Pitch Maps rely on whether the batsman is left or right handed.
All batsmen are automatically right-handed so you will need to check this and change
them to left handed if necessary. It is easy to change by selecting [Switch] at the top of
the Pitch Map screen.
Wagon Wheels
In the same manner as the Pitch Map, once Wagon wheels are turned on within the app,
you can input where the ball went once the shot was played. This will give players a
whole new level of analysis and fans a unique viewing experience. The wagon wheel has
two functions that allow you to adapt the roll and height of the balls path. You can also
press [keeper] to signify the ball went straight through to the keeper. You can turn
wagon wheels on and off via the [settings cog].
Also you will notice that the Wagon wheels rely on whether the batsman is left or right
handed. All batsmen are automatically right-handed so you will need to check this and
change them to left handed if necessary. It is easy to change by selecting [Switch} at the
top of the Pitch Map screen. Again, you can pre enter these details when you add a

Tips on getting the most out of scoring with your CricHQ app
The CricHQ application is an excellent tool for player development, by instantly improving
player performance and understanding of the game. These will be outlined throughout this
document showing different scenarios to highlight how it can be used for you and your
teams benefit.
Coaches and scorers have been using the CricHQ application to communicate with their
players on:




Pre-game and during the game strategies
Setting up Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Certain individual and team trends
Post-match debrief of team and individual players
By turning the device to landscape while scoring you can view the scorecard, run worms,
manhatten graph, match analysis, MVP graph, wagon wheel and pitch map.
1. Opposition batsman wagon wheel – You can filter and analyse where an opposition
batsman is hitting the ball and scoring their runs. Things to consider from this are
field settings, bowler plans, and boundary size.
In this instance we discovered the batsman was scoring 90% of his runs on the leg
side, this was fed back to the team during the game and within four balls the bowlers
changed their plans. The field was set differently and the batsman was out caught
(skied to point) after trying to hit a ball to the leg side on 6 th stump line.
2. Match Analysis – during the game you check progress compared to the opposition in
the below areas. After the game you can use as a debrief tool and discuss possible
areas to work on for trainings or games in the future.
For this game you will see the England womens team had a very high % of dot balls
faced and maidens faced. Overall they struggled with turning over the strike, and
having single run options. Their team debrief revolved around how they could do this
better in the future and their next training session they worked on these two areas
along with running between the wickets.
3. Your bowlers wagon wheel – during the game you check to see where specific
bowlers from your team are being hit and having runs scored off them. Things to
consider are field settings, bowlers plans, and boundary size.
This right arm outswing bowler was constantly getting too straight with his line and
in three games he was getting hit through the legside on a regular basis. After
analysing his wagon wheel with the coach he consistently started hitting 3rd and 4th
stump line in his following games. The outcome was his RPO dropping by half in his
next two games.
4. Line and length of your bowlers – you can filter individual bowlers and look to see
what areas they are hitting on the pitch map. Things to consider are the bowlers
specific plans compared to actual execution.
The bowlers line was reasonably consistent but his length was a mixture of full,
good, and short. The bowlers plan was to bowl at a full length rather than a shorter
length; from this we discovered that he was not executing his bowling plans
correctly. The coach sat down with the player and went over this at the break in
play.
5. Runs scored off different line and length of your bowlers – you can filter individual
bowlers and look to see what areas the batsman has scored runs off them.
We now look at the same bowler and see that the batsman has scored the majority
of their runs off short deliveries along with short and wide deliveries. Compare this
to full straight and full off side deliveries where no runs have been scored. When
showing this to the bowler he made a conscious effort to bowl fuller as this was an
area the batsman struggled to score runs from.
6. Match report analysis – you can spot certain team trends or areas of weakness that
need to be improved or addressed for upcoming trainings or games.
7. Linear Scorecard – you can go through what happened throughout a game over by
over and compare against opposition at certain stages and during power plays.
8. Detailed batting and bowling individual analysis – you can view where batsman
have scored their runs, where bowlers have conceded runs and how many runs
have been scored off particular balls.
