What is this “tool” anyway? We use the word “tool” because the Dragons MVP Program offers you just that. You will have an instrument to use, however you see fit, to motivate and reward students in your class. Each classroom will receive five, once-in-a-lifetime MVP award kits to use for rewarding students. As the teacher, you will be the sole judge and jury for deciding how your students will earn one of these rewards. Right now, you're probably thinking, “You’re telling me I can choose how to reward these MVPs?” Absolutely. This is the beauty of the Dragons MVP Program. You can award these five packages to any of your students for any reason you see fit. For example, you could use MVP awards for: * An award for good citizenship * Good behavior * The winner of the annual class spelling bee * The classroom math competition * Encouragement for a struggling student who turns the corner * A leader in the classroom * The most improved student throughout the year * Community involvement * Recognition for outstanding leadership * Anything… Thanks to the Turner Foundation, PACE, and Montgomery County, your classroom will have the ability to reward five Dragons MVP students at absolutely no cost to you. The MVP Package Here is a look at what’s included for each of your Dragons MVP recipients. RECOGNITION Getting official recognition for hard work is a huge honor for students. As a Dragons MVP, they’ll receive an official Dragons commemorative certificate, naming them a “Dayton Dragons MVP.” Each student will get this frameable print, which teachers can sign and customize with their student’s name. TICKETS TO MVP FIELD DAY WITH THE DRAGONS Dragons MVPs are invited to an exclusive, private event at Fifth Third Field. We’ll bring out all of our mascots and the entire Dayton Dragons team and coaching staff. MVPs will interact with the players while participating in baseball drills on the field, jumping on inflatable games, running the bases and getting tons of autographs. We’ll also have complimentary ballpark snacks and beverages available when all of that fun works up a hunger and thirst! I love it. How do I participate? We want the Dragons MVP Program: A Tool For Teachers, to be simple and easy for you to implement. You’ve got enough on your plate, so we’ll take care of all of the details. All you have to do is respond to the letter included with this guide, letting us know that you want to be involved in this incredible, free program. You can mail, fax or email the sign-up form back to us. Once we’ve received all of the registrations, we’ll send out a classroom kit to all of the participating teachers. In this kit, you’ll find: MVP GAME TICKETS Normally in baseball, there can only be one MVP, but we're going to make your five students each feel like an MVP when they come out to a Dragons game. Each MVP will receive four lawn tickets (one ticket for the student, and three for them to bring along family members to help celebrate) to a “Dragons MVP” night. As the students and their families enjoy that night's Dragons game, we'll welcome them with a graphic on our video board and announcement over the PA. One lucky MVP will also be randomly selected to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and another MVP will be interviewed live on our ESPN radio broadcast during the game. * Five (5) MVP Award Envelopes, each containing: - A voucher for tickets to an MVP night at a Dragons game and the Dragons MVP Field Day event - A voucher for an MVP hat at the Dragons game - A customizable MVP award certificate - A letter explaining the MVP award to the MVP’s parent/guardian * Two different wall posters to promote the program in your classroom * A Dragons MVP bookmark and sticker for every student in your classroom * A teacher voucher for your tickets to a Dragons MVP game and Dragons MVP Field Day SPECIALLY DESIGNED DRAGONS MVP HAT At each “Dragons MVP” game, we’ll set up a table where MVPs will receive a specially-designed Dragons MVP hat we created just for them. This custom hat is only available to Dragons MVPs. This isn't some cheap promotional hat. It is a great quality hat, and if we sold this hat in our team store it would have a retail value of $15 to $18. We also want to recognize the teachers who help implement this program. Classroom Poster Each participating teacher will also receive four tickets to a “Dragons MVP” game and passes to the MVP Field Day. Bookmark Once the kit is in your classroom, you’re ready to designate five “Dragons MVPs” at your sole discretion. MVP Program Success Stories As one of the most visible entertainment venues in the region, the Dayton Dragons have harnessed our marketing and media horsepower to let everyone know about the great “MVPs” who are coming from our schools. Once you give out an MVP reward to a student, we ask that you share with us the success story of your MVP student. Throughout the summer, we’ll feature several MVP stories in a variety of formats. -We’ll take out ads in the Dayton Daily News and the Springfield News-Sun -We’ll create radio spots to run on our flagship station, ESPN Radio 1410 AM -We’ll feature success stories on our website, daytondragons.com -We’ll feature some of the best stories in our Play Ball! game program -We’ll randomly select classrooms for mascot and player visits Once you receive your classroom packet, you’ll notice some Dragons MVP success story forms. Please fill these out, with as much detail as possible, for each of your MVPs (see example above). Then mail, fax or email us the information. We’ll select some of the best stories from these information sheets and share them with the rest of the community as great “success stories.” If one of your students is selected, we’ll contact you to set up all of the details and let you know when your student’s success story will be featured. First pitch opportunity Radio interview on ESPN Radio 1410 AM The above ad was created from a success story about one of the Dragons MVPs in Montgomery County. This ad was featured in our "Play Ball!" game program, on our website, and in the “Dayton Daily News.”
