> january : a new year
> who are we?
An award winning independent charity, founded by environmental
charity Landlife, and funded through public support.
> what do we do?
We run a seasonal visitor attraction that showcases wildflowers in a
natural environment with lots of ideas that you can replicate at home.
We provide information and raise awareness about the importance
of wildflowers, and encourage people to learn about the creation
and management of new wildflower habitats – we call this creative
conservation. All the money we raise at the Centre is put back into our
charitable work to preserve our native wildflower species, so just by
visiting you can be sure you are making a contribution.
> what can you see & do?
The Centre has an stylish mix of refurbished old buildings and
new architecture, with courtyards and a walled garden demonstration
space where we manage seasonal displays of wildflowers.
We’re wild about wildflowers – there are no manicured lawns
and flowerbeds here! Instead we have a carefully managed wilderness,
awash with the vibrant colours of British native wildflowers and the
sounds of our seasonal wildlife visitors.
There’s plenty for children to do – with over 60 fun events,
many of which are free. From minibeasts to edible gardening or just
burning off some energy around the wildflowers.
Our adult visitors love the wildflowers too with over 400
species on site throughout the season. You can learn about growing
them, using nature creatively or just sit in peace and take in the view.
Our Cornflower Café is open all year round Mon to Fri
and at weekends during our visitor open season. We serve
delicious freshly prepared food – homemade soups and cakes are a
speciality – especially Glenys’ carrot cake.
The Shop offers a wide range of gifts from pocket money
prices upwards. We also sell seeds and plants grown locally.
