Birmingham PlayCare Network is a voluntary organisation passionate about promoting both the importance of play and high quality play opportunities for children and young people. Established in 1995, we are a member led organisation representing the play and playcare sector and working as an advocate for children’s play. Membership is open to everyone. About the scrapstore BPCN’s scrapstore supports the reuse of unwanted materials that have been donated by businesses and individuals across Birmingham. We collect and sort waste/surplus materials which would often be diverted to landfill and redistribute it to our scrapstore members. The scrapstore offers out of school providers, schools, community groups and individuals the opportunity to access a wide range of high quality materials, save money and promote reuse of waste materials. What’s in the scrapstore There is a constant supply of materials entering the scrapstore, as both old favourites and new. Our vision To voice the issues and concerns of the play sector, to share information, facilitate contact, offer support and share best practice in child centred play. To be a member led organisation that supports the child’s right to play in line with the UN Convention’s Rights of the Child article 31.
