HOW TO REACH SIENA   By Plane     By Car  From Milan Malpensa: by shuttle from the airport terminal to Milan Main Railway Station (“Milano Centrale”), where there are regular trains to Florence Main Railway Station (“Firenze Santa Maria Novella”) by Trenitalia or by Italo, then by SITA bus or by car (please see below); From Rome: by train from the Airport Railway Station to Rome Main Railway Station (“Roma Termini”), where there are regular trains to Florence Main Railway Station (“Firenze Santa Maria Novella”) by Trenitalia or by Italo, and then by SITA bus or by car (please see below); From Rome: by train from the Airport Railway Station to Rome “Tiburtina” Railway Station (“Roma Tiburtina”), and then by direct bus from Roma Tiburtina bus terminal. From Florence: by taxi or by shuttle from the airport terminal to “SITA” Bus Station (opposite to Florence Main Railway Station, “Firenze Santa Maria Novella”), where there are express buses to Siena (“Siena Rapida”) every hour until 7:50 pm (timetable); From Pisa: from the airport railway station, by train changing in Empoli (about 2 hours) by Trenitalia. From The North: highway A1 (direction south – Florence), exit “Firenze Impruneta”, and then freeway Florence – Siena, exit Siena Nord; From The South: highway A1 (direction north - Florence), exit “Bettolle”, and then freeway Bettolle – Siena, and then please follow the signs to Siena city center. HOW TO REACH CERTOSA DI PONTIGNANO (Conference Venue) Please note that the Conference Venue is not in Siena city center. Certosa di Pontignano is about 15 kilometers away from Siena. BY BUS The local bus company is TRA-IN Spa (Phone number: +39 0577 204245). Bus tickets can be bought at tobacconists’, newspaper kiosks and from ticket machines.   From Siena to Certosa: buses (bus n° 34A) leave from Piazza Gramsci at 8 AM and at 1.10, 1.55, 3.30, 6.35 PM (both Thursday and Friday); From Certosa to Siena: buses (bus n° 34R) leave from just outside the conference venue at 3.00 and 8.00 PM (Sunday). BY CAR   From the North: Coming from the Florence/Siena connecting road, exit Siena Nord. At the first STOP turn left, towards CASTELLINA IN CHIANTI-GREVE IN CHIANTI (SS 222),After about 1.5 km, you find a crossing on the road and turn towards VAGLIAGLI-CORSIGNANO-PIEVASCIATA (SP 102) and PONTIGNANO (in brown),Drive on for further 2.5 km. On the left you will find the VALIANO farm, after going beyond it for about 1.5 km, on the right a crossing to PONTIGNANO 1-PONTE A BOZZONE-SS 406.Drive on for about 2 km more and you will reach the Certosa of Pontignano. From the South: Coming from the Bettole/Siena connecting road, exit Siena East (actually the continuation of the connecting road). Follow the signs CENTRO - STAZIONE FF.SS. Along the road you will come across some roundabouts. At the third roundabout, there is a sign for CERTOSA DI PONTIGNANO. Continue along the state road 408 for about 7/8 km until you get to PONTE A BOZZONE. Turn left there towards CERTOSA DI PONTIGNANO. Drive on for 2 km until you reach the Certosa of Pontignano.
