Introduction
This document is to provide an engineer with clear instructions on how to;
1/.
Use Wireshark to capture data streams between Mitel handsets on post
Release 8.0 Systems
2/.
How to turn the captured data streams into an audio file which can then be
played back using Windows Media Player.
This gives the engineer a file to listen to in order to judge the quality of the call etc.
Additionally (on page 14) there is a wealth of diagnostic information available
including;
1).
Maximum Delta (Latency)
2).
Maximum Jitter
3).
Mean Jitter
4)/

At this point NOTHING should appear in the Wireshark screen until someone
starts talking on a Mitel handset.
The above trace does not capture ‘Ring’ or ‘Busy’ signals which are transmitted using
a different protocol; all we are capturing is the voice part of the conversation.
