1. Introduction
This technical note describes the process for modifying an Sony CA-553 camera adaptor plate to allow a
Link Research XPR (L1120/L1124) to be used with supported cameras. The process involves adding extra
connections into the adaptor plate and should not affect its operation with other equipment.
2. Instructions
The CA-553 camera adaptor plate has two connectors, a 66 way connector on the camera side and a 50 way
one on the Cameraback side of the plate.
One wire has to be run between the connectors and another wire between two pins on the 66 way
connector.
The connections are as follows;
50way D Type (Cameraback side)
Pin 13
66 Way (Camera side)
Pin 66
Between pins on 66 way connector (Camera side).
Pin 32
Pin 65
Below is a picture of the 66 way connector, the corner pin numbers are marked. (The modification has
been carried out using red wire; the black wire is a Sony original modification.)
