What is the
T
he Tocqueville Society is named after the French philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville, who visited America in the nineteenth century,
observing its unique characteristic of “neighbor helping neighbor.” Orange County United Way’s Tocqueville Society is a group
of 250 Orange County business and community leaders dedicated to improving lives and strengthening our community
through generous philanthropic contributions. The Tocqueville Society is Orange County’s preeminent philanthropic group, with annual
member gifts ranging from a minimum of $10,000 up to seven figures. Members are a part of a Society of more than 27,000 likeminded leaders throughout the country.

In addition to making generous monetary contributions, Tocqueville Society members also engage their families in philanthropy through

Donor Advised Fund services are also available exclusively to Tocqueville Society members, allowing them to seamlessly consolidate all
of their charitable giving through Orange County United Way.
