It was launched in February 2009 and contains over 5,000 fulltext publications mainly in PDF format. Lenus contains HSE publications, former health boards and other publications by Irish health organisations. It also includes journal articles, theses, dissertations and ongoing research projects. Home: This button brings the user back to the homepage My LENUS: My Lenus is relevant to anyone who registers on Lenus Submit: It is possible to submit publications for inclusion once registered on Lenus and given access rights. Help!: A help file is available with more information Feedback: Please use this facility to send us any comments or suggestions. Register/Login: If you register with Lenus you can then receive alerts via email for new content available – e.g. new articles or theses or HSE publications. Suggestions for additions to this list are most welcome. The latest submissions to Lenus are listed and accessible on the homepage. These include the latest publications which have been added. Sometimes the items here can be dated as there is an ongoing archive of older publications being submitted to Lenus. Also on the homepage is a list of the most viewed publications each month. SEARCHING To Search in Lenus you can use the simple search box on the top left hand corner of the screen as shown. This will search for the words you enter in the TITLE of the publications. Use the Advanced Search feature to search for subjects/titles/authors or a combination and you can use the publication date range as shown BROWSING 2 Regional Library & Information Service Dr. Steevens’ Hospital, Dublin 8. 2010- Communities & Collections: browsing this way will give a breakdown of publications by the HSE by Subject, by former health boards and by other Irish health organisations other than the HSE. Title: this will display an alphabetical listing by title of all items in the repository. Author: this will display all authors with items in the repository. Clicking on an author’s name will bring up all publications by them. Date published: this will display a chronological breakdown of all items in the repository according to year of publication. Date submitted: this will display a chronological breakdown of all items in the repository according to the date submitted. Subject: this will display all items in the repository by subject. Clicking on a subject will bring up all items relevant to that Researchers: this will display a list of Irish researchers registered on Lenus. Anyone working on research with relevance to Irish health is welcome to register with Lenus. LISTED COMMUNITIES Current research projects: this community contains short documents about ongoing research projects in the HSE and in other Irish health organisations. HSE: this community contains all publications by the HSE, former health boards including minutes, official publications and theses. Other Irish Health Publications: this community contains publications by other Irish health organisations and authors on topics relevant to Irish healthcare. This includes the Department of Health and Children and a myriad of other Irish health agencies. Research Articles: this contains journal articles and other published research of Irish interest. Not all articles are in fulltext. This is a new collection and will be updated time and staff permitting. Staff submissions are vital for this community. KEEPING UPTODATE There are two ways to keep up to date with content added to Lenus. 1) RSS FEEDS are available in the bottom right hand corner of the homepage. If you have an RSS aggregator such as Bloglines, GoogleReader, Yahoo, Pageflakes etc. You can add Lenus as a feed to receive updates on content. 2) REGISTER & SUBSCRIBE TO A COLLECTION Once you register on Lenus you can then subscribe to a collection for updates. E.g. If a user wanted to keep up to date with HSE publications in the area of Mental health then by clicking on HSE under ‘Listed Communities’ and then ‘Mental Health’ an Email alerts box will appear on the right hand side of the screen. Clicking on Subscribe will send the user an email with a direct link to any new publications added to this community. 3 Regional Library & Information Service Dr. Steevens’ Hospital, Dublin 8. 2010- ACCESSING FULLTEXT To access the full document click on the title from the Latest Submissions or from a results page after a search has been conducted. A full item record will appear with a VIEW/OPEN option at the top of the screen. EXPORTING OR SAVING DOCUMENTS To export a document from Lenus click on the title, at the bottom of the screen there is an option to export the record to a reference management tool including EndNote, RefMan and RefWorks. It is also possible to email the document to yourself or a colleague and to use other tools to bookmark the item or save the reference.
