What is Capitalines Magazine?
Capitalines is the official publication of The Junior League of Austin (JLA). This
full‐color magazine highlights news and events of JLA, as well as community partners
including non‐profits, programs, and leaders. Capitalines is published twice annually:
The fall issue showcases JLA’s accomplishments, community impact, donors, and the
A Christmas Affair event. It also serves as a sustainable public relations development
tool throughout the year. This issue has a circulation of 3,000, including JLA
membership and the Greater Austin area business and community leaders. Fall
placements are also automatically included in the A Christmas Affair Shopping
Guide, which has a circulation of 20,000. This additional publication is distributed to
all attendees of A Christmas Affair, the nation’s largest Junior League Christmas
market.
The spring issue serves as an impact report summarizing financial, donor, and
volunteer information. It highlights successes from the year and bridges outgoing and
incoming leadership programs. This issue has a circulation of 3,000, also including JLA
membership and the Greater Austin area business and community leaders.
What is The Junior League of Austin?
The Junior League of Austin is an organization of more than 2,400 women committed
to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the
community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its
purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. On an annual basis, The Junior
League of Austin contributes over $800,000 to the Austin community and Central
Texas. Its members volunteer approximately 100,000 hours through Signature Impact
Programs and in partnership with more than 25 non‐profit agencies. For more

The Junior League of Austin’s membership is made up of Provisional members,
Actives, and Sustainers. Most of our Active members fall in the 30-40 age range.
This group, about one-third of our total membership, serves on committees or as
leaders and volunteers in the community. Our sustaining members continue to
support the League and its programs, both financially and through their efforts in
the community.
