Install Shield The installation process previously used was replaced by the world's leading standard product, Install Shield, made by Flexera Software. This results in improved opportunities for adapting the installation so that individual Smap3D programs can also be selected for installation. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 3 Page 3 P&ID SmapWizard separated into PDM Wizard and Plant Design Administrator The previous configuration program SmapWizard was separated into the programs PDM Wizard and Plant Design Administrator. This completed the logical and physical separation between the settings for the Smap3D standard and duplicate parts management (PartFinder) and the settings for the Smap3D Plant Design programs (Piping and Isometric). What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 4 Page 4 P&ID New setting for the preferred unit system The preferred unit system can now be set in Plant Design Administrator. A selection can be made between metric (mm) and imperial (inch) units. This setting controls the calculation and the display of geometric values for the respective unit system in the Smap3D Plant Design programs Plant Design Administrator, Piping and Isometric. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 5 Page 5 P&ID New design display in all programs In the Help menu of the Smap3D programs Piping, Isometric, Pipe Specification Editor and Plant Design Administrator, the color design of the user interface in the indicated programs can be set and modified. A design setting always applies simultaneously to all indicated programs (excluded P&ID). What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 6 Page 6 P&ID P&ID New functions and options in Smap3D P&ID Upgrade of the symbol library with ASME/ISA 5.1 and ASME/ISA 5.5 The included 2D symbol library for process engineering symbols was upgraded again in this version. The standards ASME/ISA 5.1 and ASME/ISA 5.5 are now included as a standard feature with the installation. Although these standards are primarily used in North America, we provide them worldwide as part of our P&ID solution. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 7 Page 7 P&ID New "Edit Symbol" function The new Edit Symbol function (in the Context Menu for the selected symbol) allows the user to directly access (on the fly) a symbol in the diagram environment in order to make modifications to it. Until now, the following individual steps had to be performed: • Switching to the respective library symbol via the Symbol Menu (F8) • Modification of the symbol • Saving under a new file name • Replacement (F4) of the modified library symbol with the diagram symbol With the new function, the previously required individual steps are automated and combined in one efficient function. This increases user comfort and decreases the time required for this process. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 8 Page 8 P&ID New "Switch Flow Direction" function The new function Switch Flow Direction (in the Context Menu for the selected line) allows the user to consistently and visually switch the flow of an existing line (only for line styles with arrow) to the opposite direction. All symbols (flow type symbols) already placed in the line are automatically reversed along with the function. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 9 Page 9 P&ID New functions for automatic handling of "Line and connection size" These new functions and their associated settings allow automatic handling of values for line sizes and connection sizes on P&ID symbols. The automatic transmitting of the line size from a line to the attached connection point of a symbol was already implemented in the last version. Along with the changes in this version which record the size values of the component connections automatically with the data set (from the database) to the 2D symbol connection points, and the new included design review (diameter comparisons), the result is a complete and user-friendly range of functions for this requirement. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 10 Page 10 P&ID New function in Object Lister for "Lines" The Object Lister (F7) was upgraded with a new section for Lines. This has made it possible to quickly and easily display the available individual line/pipe information as a list. The composition of the columns/information in this section to be displayed proceeds in the menu View => Lines. Until now, this was only possible for symbols, text and page information. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 11 Page 11 P&ID New options in Object Lister for the symbol settings "Conduction" and "Physical" The existing “Symbols” section in the Object Lister (F7) was upgraded in order to display and edit the individual symbol settings Physical and Conduction in the list. Activating (visibly displaying) this new column/information for the Symbols section proceeds in the menu View => Symbols & Terminals. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 12 Page 12 P&ID New "Line Gap" function for intersecting lines The Settings => Pointer/Screen menu provides the user with new options for displaying intersecting lines/pipes. The standard setting is Off. This means that in the case of a line intersection, the lines are still displayed as intersecting in the diagram. The Gap option creates an optical gap in the vertical lines in the case of a line intersection. The Arc option creates a optical bypass arc in the vertical lines in the case of a line intersection. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 13 Page 13 P&ID New options for "Design Check" The previous Design Check function was upgraded with 2 new review options: Compare Diameter If this option is activated, the values of the Connection Size and Line Size columns on placed symbols are compared during a review. If these are not identical in value and notation, or even missing, this will be reported as an error/warning. Non-unique Name If this option is activated, the uniqueness of the symbol name (TAG number) is checked during a review. If identical symbol names (TAG numbers) are found for multiple symbols in the diagram, this will be reported as an error/warning. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 14 Page 14 P&ID New options for "Text-/Symbol defaults" The existing settings in the menu Settings => Text/Symbol Defaults were upgraded with additional options: Display of the X/Y Reference The X/Y Reference display can also be activated for the line linking and symbol reference texts display for the reference format. This requires the prior activation and adjustment of the reference system in the diagram drawing or the project. If this display is used, the reference texts are displayed with X/Y sector and page information on the symbols and line links. Until now, this was only possible for one reference sector (X or Y) together with the page name. Transferring the text settings per page or for the whole project If the settings for standard texts are subsequently changed in a drawing, these changes must be transferred to the active project with the function Transfer text settings to Project. With the new version, you can select whether the changes should be applied to the whole project or only to the active diagram if there are multiple diagram sheets in the opened project. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 15 Page 15 P&ID New option for zooming with mouse wheel A new option for the center mouse wheel has been added in the menu Settings => Pointer/Screen. In the associated list box, you can set the mouse wheel for zooming or scrolling. The standard setting is Zoom. It is no longer necessary to press the Ctrl key in order to zoom with the center mouse wheel. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 16 Page 16 P&ID New "Reduction" symbol type In connection with the expansion of the P&ID to linkage with 3D Piping (P&ID To-Do List), a new symbol type was introduced. This should be set for all symbols in the P&ID (with symbol creation or in the diagram) that function as a reduction in 3D. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 17 Page 17 P&ID To-Do List P&ID To-Do List What´s new in the P&ID for 3D linking (P&ID To-Do List) P&ID symbol type "Reduction" control automation in 3D Piping P&ID symbols with the Reduction symbol type now feature smart recognition by the P&ID To-Do List and are represented with an individual symbol. When creating and editing a 3D pipeline via the To-Do List, the significantly upgraded Piping function Place Conc. Component can be accessed and performed through this type of reduction input. After completing this function, the pipeline is reduced at the selected point and the placed 3D reduction fitting is automatically assigned to the entry in the To-Do List. Until now, these steps had to be completed individually and independently of one another in both of the Piping and P&ID To-Do List interfaces. The consolidation into one single function increases user comfort and reduces the time required for this process. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 18 Page 18 P&ID To-Do List P&ID line information for insulation and flow direction control automations in 3D Piping P&ID lines created with the line styles displaying flow direction now feature smart recognition with their from-to flow direction information and are represented with an individual symbol. When assigning this type of P&ID pipeline information to a 3D pipeline path in Piping, a new automation visibly attaches this flow direction to the pipeline path. The same is true for the P&ID line information Insulation. This also features smart recognition by the P&ID and is represented with an individual symbol in the To-Do List. After assigning the pipeline information to a 3D pipeline path and creating/recalculating in Piping, you can start creating the insulation for this 3D pipeline from the To-Do List. In both cases, the Piping functions are initiated and supported via the To-Do list with the information supplied by P&ID. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 19 Page 19 3D Piping 3D Piping New functions and automations in Smap3D Piping New automations and QuickPlace Methods For this version, the Smap3D Piping upgrades were also focused on the automation of 3D pipeline creation. For this reason, we have added many new automations (QuickPlace Methods) to provide the user with even more support in daily tasks. The following automations (key names) listed are performed automatically when generating, recalculating and editing a 3D pipeline if corresponding components are defined in the pipe specification. Depending on the geometric situation of the pipeline path, Smap3D Piping automatically attempts to place these components as elements in the pipeline: • End component: Components such as blind flanges, caps, etc. are automatically placed at the open end of a pipeline path. • Universal bends and universal elbows: Components with variable bend angles are placed and adapted individually to bend situation (not standard angle) of a pipeline path. This new automation replaces and expands the existing options Divide. • Counterflange: Defined components (different geometry than normal flange) are placed on existing normal flanges or cutoff components. • Union: Fitting combinations consisting of up to 4 components such as flange connectors, counterflange connectors, seals, and master lap joints are automatically placed in accordance with the maximum pipe length configuration. • Bend 87 and Elbow 87: Elbow fittings with bend angle of exactly 87 degrees are placed in corner situations at 87 degrees in the pipeline path. • Bend 93 and Elbow 93: Elbow fittings with bend angle of exactly 93 degrees are placed in corner situations at 93 degrees in the pipeline path. • Tee 87: Tee fittings with branch angle of exactly 87 degrees are placed in tee situations in the pipeline path. • Lap joint: Components (part or assembly) are placed in the pipeline or with pipeline components as an additional component when requested by the coordinate system information End treatment – 08 LapJoint. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 20 Page 20 3D Piping New placement of reduced tees together with conc. components Also this new automation performs automatically when generating, recalculating and editing a 3D pipeline if corresponding components are defined in the pipe specification. If the diameters difference on a tee branch can not solved by placing only a reduced tee, this new automation ask the user to solve the situation by placing a reduced tee together with concentric component onto that branch. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 21 Page 21 3D Piping New functions for the placement of concentric components The new functions for the placement of concentric component and the new key name Conc. component replace and improve the previous key names and automations for “Reduction conc.” and “Expander conc.”. The newly available functions represent a significant improvement in performance. Thus, many situations with concentric line reductions or expansions that were not automatically supported are now a thing of the past. The new key name Conc. Component is available for two detail functions: Place concentric component This reduction function corresponds to the redesign of the QP method for reducing/expanding components with significant functional enhancements, but the same procedure as in the previous version. Place concentric component twice This reduction function is new and enables the automatic reduction/expansion of a section of pipeline between 2 defined points. Until now, producing such a result would require significantly more effort and analysis with two successive reductions needed. The consolidation into one single function increases user comfort and reduces the time required for this process. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 22 Page 22 3D Piping New "Place Component Pattern" function The new Place component pattern function automates the placement of additional components that do not have a direct effect on the pipeline. Components that are defined in the pipe specification as Support are placed multiple times along the pipeline path at definable intervals. This function is designed for the placement of additional components such as: support, clamps, clips, hangers, brackets, etc. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 23 Page 23 3D Piping New definition option for Shape pipes with fixed length The new definition option where added to the previous key name Shape pipe. This allows to define more shape pipe components with different fixed lengths from the library for the same size in a pipe specification. For a correct behavior of the Piping function, this requires also the definition of a shape pipe from same type with a variable length. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 24 Page 24 3D Piping New functions for "Flow direction" in 3D pipelines The new Flow direction functions (only via Context Menu) allow the user to define the flow direction for a 3D pipeline path. When working with the P&ID To-Do List, this can be transferred over automatically from the P&ID. When working without the P&ID (and To-Do List), this can also be defined manually with Piping. The following options are available: • Set flow direction • Delete flow direction • Swap flow direction • Show flow direction • Hide flow direction What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 25 Page 25 3D Piping New technology for Design Checks With Smap3D Piping V10, the new Design Checks interface/technology (in Tools menu) has been introduced for the automatic review of generated 3D pipelines according to logical criteria. The processes for checking flow direction and diameter are provided as standard with this version. The following criteria are checked: • The design check Flow direction checks whether the defined entry and exit connection points for the placed components (when defined with CSWizard) correspond with the flow direction defined for the 3D pipeline. • Depending on the setting, the Design Check CSInfo checks the defined parameters and values of the CSInfo properties for logical consistency with the placed pipeline components. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 26 Page 26 3D Piping New "Create new sub-assembly" function The new Create new sub-assembly function (in Tools menu) automates the creation of a subassembly for pipelines. Until now, native 3D CAD functions had to be performed separately from one another in multiple individual steps. The consolidation into one single function in Smap3D Piping increases user comfort and reduces the time required for this process. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 27 Page 27 3D Piping New "Create reference part" function The new Create reference part function (in Tools menu, only with Solid Edge) automates the creation of a reference component for pipelines when doing structured work in sub-assemblies. In this reference part, the required connection points from components in other assemblies are added with Interpart-copies and managed in only one file at the top assembly level. Then, with the CSWizard, the required coordinate systems are created at the surfaces of the Interpart-copies. Until now, native Solid Edge functions had to be performed separately from one another in multiple individual steps. The consolidation into one single function in Smap3D Piping increases user comfort and reduces the time required for this process. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 28 Page 28 3D Piping New "Refresh all subassemblies" function The new Refresh all sub-assemblies function (in Tools menu) automates the updating of 3D pipeline sub-assemblies in only one step from the top assembly. With V10, this now works for all sub-assemblies created with the Smap3D Piping function Create sub-assembly. This function is solely responsible for recording the required information in the sub-assembly so that it can be recognized as a pipeline sub-assembly. Until now, each pipeline assembly had to be manually edited and updated by the user in individual steps. The consolidation into one single function in Smap3D Piping increases user comfort and reduces the time required for this process. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 29 Page 29 3D Piping Expanded options for grouping in the Piping structure tree The functions for Grouping (only via Context menu) were significantly expanded. The following individual functions are now available: • • • • • • • Group pipelines (creates a group from the previously selected pipeline paths). Ungroup pipelines (removes the group, whereby the pipelines remain). Rename group (allows the name of the selected group to be changed). Add to group (adds selected pipelines to an existing group. The available groups are displayed via a list box for selection). Remove from group (removes a selected pipeline from a group). Select all pipelines (selects all pipeline paths within the selected group). Select all components (selects all components within the selected group). What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 30 Page 30 3D Piping New function for ignoring XpresRoute lines The new functions for Construction lines (in Tools menu, only with Solid Edge) allow the user to define drawn XpresRoute 3D line segments as construction lines. Such construction lines are then ignored during the creation of the 3D pipeline path in Smap3D Piping. This is useful in all situations in which the drawing and dimensioning of the actual pipeline path is simplified with the help of additional lines (e.g. slopes, etc.). What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 31 Page 31 3D Piping New Option "Formula for Document name" This new option Formula for Document name (in menu Tools => Options) allows the user to display other information than file name in Piping structure tree view. This works for the display of pipeline paths, pipes, components and insulations. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 32 Page 32 Isometric Isometric New functions and automations in Smap3D Isometric Newest version of Personal ISOGEN © and I-Configure integrated The newest version of I-Configure was integrated with the current version of Personal ISOGEN © Core (both from the Intergraph company). The new I-Configure offers the following advantages to the user: • a more modern user interface • any DXF/DWG Viewer can now be used (previously the Autodesk VoloView was required). • new Detail Sketch Manager What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 33 Page 33 Isometric Automatic recognition and editing of CSInfo connection point definitions Through the introduction of the new CSInfo property (created with CSWizard) for a detailed definition of connection points at 3D components, we were able to automate the Smap3D standard (out of the box) more efficiently and powerfully than ever before. Smap3D Isometric now recognizes and automates the display of: • Unions • Lap Joints • Flow direction of the components or pipeline • End treatment of the components or the connection point • Type (Gender) of the connection point Information about additional, minor innovations and upgrades can be found in the related Help (F1). What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 34 Page 34 Pipe Specification Editor Pipe Specification Editor New features in Pipe Specification Editor Redesign of the Pipe Specification Editor as a stand-alone program With V10, the Pipe Specification Editor (previous integral component of the Piping program) was reprogrammed for administrators as a stand-alone program with the most modern programming technology. This redesign cleared the way for implementing more functionality in the Pipe Specification Editor – now and in the future. The most important basic changes in the new Pipe Specification Editor are: • Stand-alone can be accessed from the Start menu. • Modern user interface. • Password protection can be set. • New internal file format and new file extension (*.psfx). • Several pipe specifications can edited simultaneously in registers. • Pipe specification identification switched from name to ID. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 35 Page 35 Pipe Specification Editor New administration of the editor configuration "Common Settings" With the redesign, the configuration function for the Pipe Specification Editor – previously the Pipe Specification Editor INI file – was integrated into the new Pipe Specification Editor and renamed Common Settings. Furthermore, its file format was changed, and the associated file was converted to the fixed file name PipeSpecificationCommon and the extension pssx. Thus, with this version, only a single, centralized configuration file PipeSpecificationCommon.pssx (saved in the Smap3D Configuration folder) is possible for the basic settings and selection content of the Pipe Specification Editor. The new user interface for common settings contains a simple and expanded editing mode. This allows experienced administrators to individually adapt the built-in automations (QuickPlace Methods) and the associated key names. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 36 Page 36 Pipe Specification Editor New Key Names for QuickPlace Methods The new and expanded automations for creating 3D pipelines in Piping lead directly to the expansion of the Key Names in the Pipe Specification Editor. The standard key names added with V10 are: • • • • • • • • • • Conc. component (replaces and combines the previous names “Reduction conc.” and “Expander conc.”) End component (new name for fittings, e.g. for blind flange, cap, etc.) Universal bend and universal elbow (new name for elbow fittings with variable bend angle) Support (new name for additional components, e.g. clips, clamps, hangers, etc.) Counterflange (new name for fittings, for different flange type than normal) Union (new name for fitting combinations consisting of up to 4 components such as flange connectors, counterflange connectors, seals, and master lap joints) Bend 87 and Elbow 87 (new names for elbow fittings with bend angle of exactly 87 degrees) Bend 93 and Elbow 93 (new names for elbow fittings with bend angle of exactly 93 degrees) Tee 87 (new name for tee fittings with bend angle of exactly 87 degrees) Lap joint (new name for additional component or assembly, e.g. for flange clamp, etc.) What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 37 Page 37 Pipe Specification Editor New definition option for Shape pipes with fixed lengths The new definition option where added to the previous key name Shape pipe. This allows to define more shape pipe components with different fixed lengths from the library for the same size in a pipe specification. For a correct behavior of the Piping function, this requires also the definition of a shape pipe from same type with a variable length. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 38 Page 38 Pipe Specification Editor Expanded possibilities for defining "Options" and "Insulation" The following new definition options were added to the previous settings for the Options and Insulation: Options: • • • All previous centrally available Default pipe values (in Plant Design Administrator) can now also be individually adjusted according to pipe specification and diameter in the Pipe Specification Editor. The previous pipe specification option Do not place bends from pipe spec automatically can now also be individually adjusted according to diameter. Previous options for the use of Materials for pipes and Face colors can now also be adjusted according to pipe specification and diameter. Insulations: • New option for defining several insulating wall thicknesses and diameters for a pipeline diameter. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 39 Page 39 Pipe Specification Editor New definition options for "Virtual Characteristics" A completely new range of functions were implemented for the individual definition of virtual characteristics according to pipe specification. This enables the definition of virtual characteristics (features and information) that are recorded in the given objects (in the pipeline path and/or components) when generating a pipeline. The virtual properties can be evaluated by Smap3D Isometric when analyzing a 3D Piping assembly. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 40 Page 40 Pipe Specification Editor New "Generate parts" function The new Generate parts function (in the Pipe Specification menu) enables a pipe specifications administrator to generate all standard parts - defined in the pipe specification from the Smap3D Master Parts - as individual files. This may be necessary in order to enter more information and features in these individually generated files (e.g. for standard BOMs, for Smap3D Isometric, etc.), before the end user uses the pipe specifications as well as the components for the first time. Until now, the Smap3D standard parts were initially generated only with the use of pipe specifications in Smap3D. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 41 Page 41 Coordinate System Wizard Coordinate System Wizard New functions in Coordinate System Wizard The Coordinate System Wizard (CSWizard) has existed since Version 9.6. It is a tool (part of the Piping product) designed to support the user in the creation of his own library section with the required coordinate system. This tool was previously used to create the necessary coordinate system names quickly, easily and without the risk of spelling errors. What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 42 Page 42 Coordinate System Wizard New definition options for each connection point In connection with the wide range of upgrades in Piping and Isometric, and the newly available automations (QuickPlace Methods), the CSWizard was upgraded with new definition options. The improved user interface now features definitions for: • End treatment in Piping (manages QP methods with 3D creation of pipelines) • End treatment in Isometric (manages display of the connection at the connection point) • Sequence number (Connection point number) • Input/output (manages flow direction in the 3D component) • Gender of the connection point (manages display of the connection at the connection point in the isometric) • Size (used for new Design Check in Piping) • Wall thickness (used for new Design Check in Piping) What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 43 Page 43 Coordinate System Wizard New "CSInfo" feature is automatically recorded in components The above-named new definitions (whether user-defined or not) are automatically compiled by the CSWizard and written as a CSInfo property in the user-defined features of the 3D CAD file. This way, each connection point (a coordinate system pair) receives its own coordinate system information. This saved information then becomes the information basis for new functions in Piping and Isometric. Example for a CSInfo property: IO=1|GR=1|SN=1| ET=1|EC=FL|SZ=100 What is new in Smap3D PlantDesign Version 10 44 Page 44
