The Turner Board of Education will again sponsor a special recognition to one classified and one certified
employee for a job well done during this past school year
Nominations may come from employees teachers parents or students as well as from you However
all nominations must come through the offices of principals directors or supervisors The criteria for
nominations are 1 someone you have worked closely with who has gone above and beyond
what is expected 2 someone who has gone the extra mile for the betterment of the district and or
3 someone who makes a positive impact on children fellow employees or the Turner community
Please tell us the story in your words as descriptively as possible Selection will be made on merit of
content not on writing style Students names are not necessary We will want to retell the employee
s
story at the time he or she is recognized Presentations will be made at the end of the school year
All nominations must be in the District Office by Tuesday April 30 2013 Selection will be by
committee and a copy of Board Policy KMKA concerning the Points of Light recognition is attached

Turner Points of Light
Turner Points of Light
The purpose of Turner Points of Light is to honor the outstanding performance of a certified
staff member and a classified staff member The recipient of a Turner Points of Light award will
be a person who has shown great enthusiasm and vision for the students in the Turner Public
Schools and has exhibited this through hisher dedication and deep commitment to these
students
Criteria for Nomination for Certified Staff
A Nominations may come from teachers parents or students as well as from an
administrator or colleague A person may submit more than one nomination
B The person should be a school employee who has gone above and beyond hisher job
description during the past school year
C The person should be someone who has dramatically changed a student
s life or
D The person may be someone who has turned failure into success
Criteria for Nomination for Classified Staff
A Nominations may come from teachers parents or students as well as from an
administrator or colleague
B The person should be a school employee who has gone above and beyond hisher job
description during the past school year
C The person has had a positive impact on hisher department and those around him
her

Process for Selection
A Each year in March all administrators and supervisors will receive a letter seeking
nominations for Turner Points of Light The announcement will be posted in each site
throughout the school district
B A person submitting a nomination will be asked to tell the nominee
s story in a
descriptive manner The nomination should be based on accomplishments limited only to
the current school year
C Selection will be made on the content of the nomination submitted not on writing style
D Nominations including Turner USD 202 Champion Award nominations will be received
in the Administrative Service Center until April 30 of the current school term
E Each year the Board President will name a selection committee The committee will be
composed of two board members one of whom will be named to chair the committee
F The recipients of the Turner Points of Light awards will be named in May at the
closing assembly for all school employees
G Recipients will receive a Turner Points of Light plaque as well as having their name
added to the Turner Points of Light award plaque in the Administrative Service Center
H Each nominee for a Turner Points of Light award will be presented a letter of
commendation from the Board of Education to be presented at his
her school or building
site
