THIS IS WHY WHY THIS IS LIGONIER VALLEY YMCA LIGONIER VALLEY YMCA 2014ANNUAL Annual REPORT Report 2014 I N At ce in th ch fo m La O de bu Pr Th co th tio fit ga po en pe I AM WHY WHY Nurturing the potential of every child Nurturing the potential of every child At the Y, we don’t just teach swimming lessons or coach soccer. We’re about youth development: ensuring that the children in the Ligonier Community reach their full potential by helping them grow—physically, mentally, and socially—from young children into active members of their community. This makes for confident kids today and contributing, engaged adults tomorrow. Last year: year: Over 178 children were provided a safe place to learn skills, develop healthy lifestyles, foster trusting relationships and build self-reliance through Y values in our Child Development Program. The Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and about developing healthy habits that they can carry with them throughout their lives. Participation in the sports programs at the Y brings even greater benefits than just physical health. Whether it’s the 300 children who gained the confidence to swim, or the 1,200 children who built positive relationships through sportsmanship and teamwork, engaging in our athletic programs promotes both social and personal growth for the whole child. WE AREWHY WHY WE ARE EnergizingHealthy HealthyLiving Living Energizing Being healthy means more than simply being physically active. spirit, mind and It’s about maintaining a balanced sprit, and body. body. The Y is a place where you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, to foster connections with friends through our lifelong learning programs, and to bring your loved ones closer together through our many family-centered activities. At the Y, it’s not about the activity you chose as much as it is about leading a healthier life and the great personal and collective benefits that come from engagement with your community. Last year: year: Serving families has always been at the heart of the Y. We are a place where children and parents can connect on a different level through our parent/child programs. In 2013, over 400 families created memories during YMCA events, including Breakfast with Santa, Healthy Kids Day and the Easter Egg Hunt. Whether you want to meet new people or simply wish to pursue a new hobby, the Y brings together people who love to learn. Last year, over 1000 adults learned to Rumba in ballroom dance, cast a line in fly-fishing class, spiked a volleyball, or explored other interests in the variety of classes offered at the YMCA. Through unique programs such as the Y Weight Loss Challenge, Middle School Initiative and Sliver Sneakers, the YMCA continues to provide healthy lifestyle opportunities for all. Y Ins The our We com sup fam com La Thr ity tee adu tee mit the We yea loca imp tion YOU ARE WHY YOU ARE WHY Inspiring Social Responsibility Inspiring Social Responsibility The Ligonier Valley YMCA has been listening and responding to our communities most critical social needs for almost 30 years. We know that when we work as one we move people and our community forward. That’s why we are committed to providing support to our neighbors and opportunities for kids, adults and families to give, join-in or advocate in the name of a stronger community. Last year: Last year: Through our annual fundraising efforts, it is clear the generosity of others is at the core of our existence. In 2013, our volunteers and staff raised $224,810.53 in support of children's, adult and family scholarship's to the Y. There is no other volunteer organization quite like the Y: it is only through the commitment of our 138 volunteers that we are able to give back to the community we serve. We are a powerful ally and advocate for our community. Last year, through our strong partnerships and collaborations with local corporations and foundations, we are able to expand our impact on important issues such as childhood obesity, education, and the overall health and well-being of our community. 2013FINANCIALS FINANCIALS 2013 REVENUE CONTRIBUTIONS $72,313.16 RESTRICTED CONTRIBUTIONS $34,350.00 MEMBERSHIP DUES $524,796.49 PROGRAM FEES $151,413.91 AQUATICS $41,081.50 CHILDCARE $446,612.57 EVENTS $224,810.53 Total Revenue $1,495,378.16 EXPENSES Operations Total Expenses ENDOWMENT GROWTH $1,382,145.90 $1,382,145.90 $347,018.00 SERVING OUR OUR SERVING SERVING OUR COMMUNITY COMMUNITY COMMUNITY ACTIVE MEMBERS 3021 ACTIVE MEMBERS COMMUNITY MEMBERS SERVED 4497 3021 COMMUNITY MEMBERS SERVED 4497 NUMBER OF PROGRAMS OFFERED 123 NUMBER OF PROGRAMS OFFERED SCHOLARSHIPS RECEIVED IN MEMBER UNITS SCHOLARSHIPS RECEIVED IN MEMBER UNITS 10% 14% 17% 34% 14% 17% 23% 23% 135 135 Family: 34% 10% 123 SilverSneakers: Family: Adult(Age19‐61): SilverSneakers: Youth(Age0‐18): Adult(Age19‐61): Senior(Age62+): Youth(Age0‐18): Senior(Age62+): Dear Dear Friends, Friends, The ValleyYMCA YMCAstarted started of our church baseThe Ligonier Valley in in oneone of our locallocal church basements ments in 1983.
