“If you know you struggle in a
subject, you can choose to work
extra hard in that subject and you
never know, you might surprise
yourself.
Michelle Edwards with Lester
Saegenschnitter
You can also choose to enjoy your
time at Concordia. I know it’s not
that simple and there will be tough
times, but if you can work through
them and focus on the positives,
you can make the most of the
precious year or years you have
left at this school. The best advice
I can give you to do that is to get
involved. Join a club, play a sport,
help out with something or apply
for one of the amazing trips the
school offers. The community you
have at Concordia is something
special, so don’t take it for
granted.
I could say all the cliché things
like it’s important to balance your
school work with everything else,
to manage your time well and to
stop procrastinating, but you’ve
probably heard these things a
thousand times before.
My final piece of advice however,
is to listen to your teachers. Believe
it or not, they want the best for
you, and are always trying to help,
so if they tell you something, it is
probably useful.”

Yan Siyu
(Class of 2009)
Jin Ju Seo
(Class of 2005)
Yan Siyu graduated from
Concordia College in 2009 and
is currently study for a Bachelor
of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery
(MBBS) at the University of New
South Wales, one of the world’s
top 50 medical schools.
Since graduating from Concordia
College in 2005, Jin Ju Seo
has embarked on an exciting
program of studies in the
Netherlands and Germany.
She initially spent two years
studying towards a BA in solo
performance at the ‘Artez
hogeschool voor de kunsten’
in Zwolle in the Netherlands
before transferring to Münster,
Germany to specialise in the viola
as part of a Bachelor in Music at
the Musikhochschule Münster.
“The time I spent at Concordia
is one of the most memorable
phases in my life. At such a young
age when I first arrived by myself,
Concordia was a big family for
me and it was the place that
embraced and raised me.
I met many inspirational teachers
at Concordia, from whom I learnt
how to value life and become
a better person. I also made
many good friends at Concordia
and those good memories will
stay with me for life. Concordia
provided me with many valuable
opportunities to develop my
interpersonal skills. For example,
I developed teamwork and
leadership skills from participating
extra-curriculum activities.
Teachers and students at
Concordia are very friendly and
supportive.
“I enjoyed the whole time I
spent at Concordia College, the
atmosphere of the College was
like ‘family’. I had the chance to
receive a music scholarship to
study at Concordia. This brought
me self-esteem, enthusiasm, and
motivation to practice even
harder. The most importance
thing in my life is not only studying
or working, but also building selfconfidence and dreams.
I think high school years are the
most important years in life. What
I studied at Concordia and the
support I received helped me
discover “who I am“.
