They go above and beyond to serve their parishes, communities, the less fortunate and the greater world. A Bishop Moore father/son team reflected on this mission as well: “It really hit me hard when I came to the realization that even though these people didn’t even have a fraction of what I alone had at home, they by far were much more content than I and seemed more spiritually full. The things I enjoyed most about La Cucarita were the abundance of community, love, and simplicity.” —Joey Broschart ‘12 “Welcome to the real world. What you do and say does matter and can make a difference. Remember the children that you held hands with and the ones that rode on your back. Remember everyone is important and on that same spiritual journey like yours.”—Mike Broschart, father of Joey. W e have special “catholic” moments right here in our own country as well, of course, but even more pertinent are the catholic moments we experience on campus, day and night, in classes, in between classes, on the game fields, all around us at Bishop Moore CatholicHigh School. You may have noticed a short editorial in the Orlando Sentinel a few months back, BISHOP MO OR E C AT HOL IC HIGH S C HO OL from one of our BMC parents titled, “Thank ful For Prayers At Private-School Events.” We are re-printing it here, with permission, to help illustrate just one of the many significant reasons for Why Bishop Moore Catholic? in the big picture of our children’s education and character formation: There are as many reasons and as many answers to the question Why Catholic?, and Why Bishop Moore Catholic? as there are Catholics. How can any reason or answer be wrong with Christ at its center. It started out like any other baseball game at “… a priest saying Mass for us would look down Bishop Moore Catholic and see Bishop Hurley’s message to us and realize High School. It was it’s about a much bigger picture, not just that during the College Park Classic between moment.”—Scott Brogan, BMC Asst. Principal Montverde Academy and Edgewater High School last weekend. I went to both benches to get the lineups and reviewed THE MISSION of Bishop Moore the pre-game routine. I took my place in the booth and Catholic High School is to began my normal routine: “…And now the starting provide the highest quality, lineups, first for Montverde Academy… Now for the affordable secondary education Edgewater Eagles…” based upon the Gospel message and Roman “Ladies and gentlemen, I ask you to please rise for the invocation, and, to honor America, our National Anthem.” Shortly after the game began, I heard a knock on the door. “I am sorry to bother you, but I was wondering who gave the invocation?” Catholic teachings. This is accomplished in a Christ-centered environment stressing academic excellence, spiritual growth, personal integrity, community involvement, athletic development, and cultural appreciation. “Oh, that was me,” I replied. “I just wanted to say thank you. You know we can’t do that in public school.” I simply replied, “I know.”I didn’t give it much thought before this, but how lucky my son is to be attending Bishop Moore Catholic High School.” —John W.
