Hornet Fans
Annual Report 2010
Dear Hornet Athletics Enthusiasts:
On behalf of the Athletic Department at Bishop
Moore Catholic High School, I would like to
take this opportunity to thank everyone
involved in the many aspects that go into the
planning, scheduling and implementation of
our twenty-seven sports programs.
BISHOP MO OR E C AT HOL IC HIGH S C HO OL

his year brought significant accomplishments
for our athletes that included ten district
championships, four regional championships,
one state runner up, two state championships, and the
3A FHSAA Dodge Overall All Sports Award 4th place.
The Hornets finished 3rd in the Orlando Sentinel All
Varsity Sports Award for all classes in the central
Florida area. A special thanks to our coaches for the
many hours of coaching and countless hours with college
scouts to assist our student athletes attain the next level.
The Hornet athletic teams provided many success
stories this past year as Bishop Moore was reassigned to
class 3A overall and 2A in football. In the fall, the
excitement of the football season kicked off what proved to
be a great athletic year. Football won the district with a 3-0
record, but lost in the first round of the playoffs. The girls
volleyball team also won the district title only to upset in
the regional semifinal match. Swimming,
bowling, cross country, boys and girls golf
athletes competed well for the Hornets.
Daniel Brockman was named athlete of the
week in October for his cross country
accomplishments and Kaila Tuccio finished
3rd individually in district golf. The swim team
qualified seven athletes for the state meet.
The wrestling team sent four wrestlers to the state
tournament. Eddie Isola, Michael Garcia, Brian
Santiago, and RJ Rowland helped the Hornets finish 10th
in the state. The Hornet competitive cheerleading squad
won the state championship in Kissimmee in February to
earn back to back championships under the leadership of
coach Shannon Lambert.
T
he spring season began as always with high
expectations and our Hornet teams did not
disappoint us. The Lady Hornet Lacrosse
team under the direction of 1st year head coach, Stacey
Williams, proved that hard work pays off and won the
district championship with an exciting come from
behind victory over West Orange. The boys finished 2nd
in the district and both teams were well represented on

he winter sports season provided great
excitement once again. With the new
district alignment the competition
for district championship becomes more
competitive than ever. The girls and boys
soccer team played very difficult regular
season schedules and both made it to the regional semifinal games. The girls basketball team won the district
and regional championships. Their sixth trip to the state
tournament in Lakeland found the Lady Hornets
finishing runner up to Tampa Catholic 43-42.
Tangeman, David Roby, Zack Cervasio, Daniel
Brockman and Chris Mullins. The girls water polo
team finished 2nd in the district, and the boys won the
district for the first time, beating Winter Park twice
making it to the state tournament.

Both teams were well represented on the All Central
Florida team by Alyson Watson, Julia Thomas, Ben
Mix, Daniel Craig, Gavin Oakley, Colin Osterndorf
and Jacob Barashick. Girls and boys tennis also
provided some great excitement with the boys winning
the district and regional championships and finishing
3rd in the state. The girls finished runner up
in both. Nick Genemaras was name scholar
athlete of the week for the week of April
29th. The boys track team was district and
region champions led by Ryan Paquin who
also brought home a state championship in
the 110M hurdles. The girls were district
champions and region runner up. Both teams
were well represented at the state meet. The
baseball team finished as district champions
and was upset in the regional semifinal. The
weightlifting team qualified Chris Brockman
and Andrew Kierolf for the state meet with
Kierolf finishing 2nd in the state. The year was
completed with our boys volleyball team
finishing as district, region and state champions
with a perfect 28-0 record! The Hornets were led by
Senior Quaid Marin, All Central Florida First Team and
Central Florida Player of the Year, and Sophomore
Christian Franceschi, Florida Dairy Farmers Player of the
Year and Mr. Volleyball. Coach Tom Snodgrass, a Bishop
Moore alum, was named Coach of the Year.
A special thank you to our Athletic Association
members for their support, special club members for
football, girls’ volleyball, basketball, lacrosse and
baseball for their additional support, our parent
representatives for their many dedicated hours, our
alumni and boosters that made this year so great.
T
Sincerely,
he Hornets strong showing in the spring sports
catapulted them into the highest finish as a
class 3A school. Bishop Moore athletics
continues to find success. As we complete a year that
saw bright young coaches develop talented young men
and women, we look forward to 2010-2011 with the
great excitement.
And none of this is possible without the parents of
our young student athletes. Thank you for your
commitment and dedication to our programs.

e are very proud of the level of heartfelt
commitment our students and families give
to their calling to community service. They
go above and beyond to serve their parishes, communities,
the less fortunate and the greater world. A Bishop Moore
father/son team reflected on this mission as well:
“It really hit me hard when I came to the realization
that even though these people didn’t even have a
fraction of what I alone had at home, they by far were
much more content than I and seemed more spiritually
full. The things I enjoyed most about La Cucarita were
the abundance of community, love, and simplicity.”
—Joey Broschart ‘12
“Welcome to the real world. What you do and say does
matter and can make a difference. Remember the
children that you held hands with and the ones that
rode on your back. Join the dance with them in your
mind and heart, ask the Holy Spirit to be with them
and you as you continue to dance. Trust in the spirit to
guide you as you grow. Remember everyone is
important and on that same spiritual journey like
yours.”—Mike Broschart, father of Joey.

here in our own country as well, of course,

here, with permission, to help illustrate just one of the
many significant reasons for Why Bishop Moore Catholic?
in the big picture of our children’s education and
character formation:
There are as many reasons and as
many answers to the question Why

How can any reason or answer be
