May National Walking Month Why not try Nordic Walking

AgeWell Newsletter May 2014
SOCIAL, HEALTH AND DIGITAL ACTIVITIES
May is National Walking Month
So let’s get walking!
Why not try Nordic Walking
Nordic walking is a specific fitness technique and not to be confused with trekking,
hill walking or trail running.
On Wednesday 14th May
At Haggerston Park 1pm –1.45pm
Meet at City Farm Entrance
Junction of Hackney Road and Goldsmith’s Row
Buses 55 and 48 drop you close by
Nordic Walking is an enhancement of ordinary walking and is one of the fastest growing cardio vascular
fitness activities - it makes something we can do twice as effective. Our walks have proved to be very
much a social activity as well as physical - where people come together and form other links if they
wish. The beauty of this activity is that you can choose to be social or not - depending on how you feel
on the day. After all the choice should be yours!
Please see our full exercise programme for other Nordic Walks
including Queen Elizabeth Park on Sundays

We provide quiet drop-in, short courses and workshops for people who want to learn the basic skills usually considered necessary for job search, as well as for actual employment.
We have volunteers to help you do the things which are sometimes difficult for computer beginners, such
as making a CV or using unfriendly job application sites.
If you are a Hackney jobseeker, and you would like to join our Wednesday afternoon sessions, please tell
an Agewell helper, or send an email to [email protected] – or just turn up at our computer centre. By the
way – It’s all free!
