Content
All of the above questions and other related content will be
addressed in a full day seminar dealing with the
advantages and the disadvantages of practising:

as a sole practitioner;

in partnership;

in incorporated form;

in association;

by sharing administrative and other facilities; and

by merging.
The topics will include some thoughts and discussion on:

succession planning;

economies of scale;

synergy and culture;

partnership matters generally;

retirement planning;

taxation; and

leadership / entrepreneurship.
Presented by Vincent Faris
Vincent is a former partner at Price Waterhouse. He has been involved with the legal profession for many years
acting as a forensic accountant for the Law Society of the Northern Provinces. He is engaged in the education
and training of both candidate attorneys and practicing attorneys by presenting lectures, seminars, and courses on
behalf of both the national and provincial law societies. Vincent also acts as a management consultant to law firms.

Who should attend?
All practitioners whose firms are under profitability pressures, irrespective of the firm’s size, composition, service
activities or geographic areas of practice. Sole practitioners and practitioners from small and medium sized firms are
strongly encouraged to attend.
Cost
The seminar fee is only R 250 (VAT included) per delegate and has been subsidised to ensure that as many
attorneys as possible attend.
Structure
The seminar will be in the form of a lecture and, time permitting, a case study will be presented in the afternoon.
