Canadian companies which are involved in the Cleantech, environmental and green building technologies, products and services (air pollution control, solid waste management and food waste recycling, water/wastewater management and treatment technologies, energy efficiency in building and industrial process, sustainable architectural design and building materials etc.) and interested in expanding their business to Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and the region in Asia. What will the mission deliver? The Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong will also organize a Special Partnering Program exclusively for Canadian companies on October 26th, prior to the Eco Expo Asia 2012. 1 Market Overview Chinese mainland The Chinese government regards the environmental protection market as a pillar industry in its 12th Five-Year Plan. Total investment in the sector is estimated over USD473 billion within the period. The market is expected to grow at an annual compound rate of 15-20%, with an industry output value of USD773 billion by 2015. Correspondingly, demand for eco products, services and technology is anticipated to rise sharply. Hong Kong The Hong Kong government has been actively promoting the domestic green agenda. These include a USD56.3 million funding scheme for building owners to conduct energycum-carbon audit, and enacting Building Energy Efficiency legislation this year so as to reduce the greenhouse gas emission by 19-33%. Another USD37.5 million funding scheme is launched to promote the use of electric vehicles. While the need to upgrade waste treatment mechanisms and increase recycling rate are creating a strong demand for waste management solutions and recycling technologies. Eco Expo Asia 2012 Eco Expo Asia will enter its 7th year, with 269 exhibitors and around 8,463 trade buyers/visitors attending in 2011.
