Registration (Qualifiers & Non-Qualifiers):
Please note that Registration for the Chumpionship portion of this race is by invitation
only based on the podium finishes for each race from 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2012.
Emails were sent to team captains on 5 July 2012; if you did not receive one, please
check The List found on the ChumpCar Forums under West Region. Complete
Chumpionship qualification guidelines, registration information, including pricing, can
be located on ChumpCar’s website under RULES. If you still have questions, please
contact us at [email protected]. IF YOU DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THIS
RACE, NO WORRIES, see below.
IF YOU QUALIFIED AND INTEND TO RACE, your team needs to be registered no
later than 23 September 2012, or you run the risk of losing your qualification spot.
After this deadline, we will look at the event capacity and decide how many sports we
have for non-title contenders as well. The Payment Deadline for this event is by
midnight on 8 October 2012. If you miss the payment deadline, you also put your
qualification spot in jeopardy.
IF YOU DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THIS RACE BUT WISH TO PARTICIPATE, on 24
September 2012 registration will officially be open to non-qualifying teams on a firstcome, first-serve basis. Please note that non-qualifying teams will NOT compete for
the Chumpionship or being in contention for trophies…you just have bragging rights
that you survived The Carousel at Sonoma Raceway!
Volunteers:
ChumpCar always welcomes volunteers to help with our races. If you are interested in
experiencing this adventure first-hand and up close on hot pit lane, drop us a note at
[email protected]. We’ll issue you a sexy fluorescent orange safety vest!
Garages/Paddock Spots:
Garages are available for rental on a first-come, first-served basis for $100 for the
weekend. Keep in mind that these NASCAR garages are double length; and to
accommodate all reservations/teams…each garage slot is actually two (2) garage
spaces…fitting two cars end-to-end. Garages will not be pre-assigned nor can you
reserve a garage to share with another team. First arrivals have first pick; get there on
time. A garage helps keep you out of the sun/heat/wind/rain/lightening/tornados, and
especially comes in handy in the evenings in the off chance that your race car requires
some repairs  Paddock spots cannot be reserved in advance; and it is not to be
assumed that the paddock spot adjacent to a reserved garage automatically belongs to
your team. Paddock spots are also first-come, first served and in some cases are a
teams’ primary repair area (i.e., they don’t have a rented garage space). And no fuel is
to be stored in the garage areas…only in the paddock or within your transporter.
To rent a garage, please send your request to [email protected].
Payment will be collected during registration on Friday.

Paddock Info/Pets & Kids/Alcohol/Pit Vehicles (no particular order):
Sonoma Raceway offers some nice paddock amenities including real restrooms that
include showers. If you bring a pet, it must be leashed or contained in your transport
vehicle/trailer. And as with all ChumpCar races, absolutely no alcohol during the
race…including your guests and spectators (it’s grounds for immediate removal of your
car and team from the race and property…period…and NO glass. Children are
welcome; but no skateboarding and the usual keep your kids safe at all times. Pit
vehicles (e.g., golf carts, ATVs, etc.) are allowed in the paddock area only (not parked
on pit lane or in any spectator area; can be used to deliver pit lane supplies &
equipment). Pit vehicles must obey all speed limits (15 mph in paddock), and must be
marked with their team’s car number or it will be parked! AND PLEASE MAKE SURE
YOU DON’T PARK IN THE PADDOCK FIRE LANE OR RISK BEING TOWED.
Pit Lane Restrictions:
Teams will have the option of pitting on the hot pit lane adjacent to the track (with the
majority of teams), or pitting in the paddock area as long as fire lanes are not blocked
and the 15mph speed limit is observed. YOU MUST BE 16 YEARS OLD TO BE ON

WINNER IS CUMULATIVE LAPS FOR BOTH DAYS!
Supplemental Rules
Driving and Track Supplemental Rules:
 SR1 – Paddock Speed Limit is 15mph. (That’s about 1,500 RPM in first gear for
most cars.) If you speed, WHICH IS EASY TO DO IN THIS HUGE PADDOCK
AREA, you’re sitting for 5 minutes. Keep in mind how many spectators will be
roaming around as well.
 SR2 - Pit Lane Speed Limit is 25 mph. (That’s about 1,500-2000 RPM in second
gear for most cars.)
Pit & Paddock Supplemental Rules:
P.O. Box 1541
Morgan Hill, CA 95038
www.chumpcar.com
[email protected]
 SRPP1 – Due to the size of the field, pit lane assignments will be made in order of
car number (you will be given a map at Registration). And, pit stalls will most likely
need to be shared -- 2 cars per stall. That means that coordinated pit stops should
be discussed with your pit-mates and then timed / planned for the safest possible
execution. Unscheduled pit stops should also be discussed and contingency plans
should be developed. Sharing of pit stalls has been successfully accomplished at
a number of ChumpCar races during the last two season, including Portland Int’l
Raceway. Just think….you can use the other team’s gas, drink their beverages
and lose their tools. However, if you have a beyond compelling reason why you
need to be next a specific team (and sharing a set of jack stands does not count);
please email [email protected] no later than November 15, 2012 for
consideration. Again, no “at track” pit lane changes can be accommodated. And if
car count exceeds pit lane capability, the paddock will be used for pit stops.
 SRPP2 – No crew members or staged fuel jugs are allowed over the wall until the
team car has come to a complete stop in the pit box. Fueling of all race cars shall
be completed by use of 5-gallon plastic jugs and funnels, hoses or other fueling
adapters as specified in the BCR. Jugs must have sealable lids/caps. Metal fuel
drums or other fuel containers (no overhead fuel rigs) and caddies with manual
pumps (no electric pumps) and hose lines are allowed to re-fill plastic jugs but are
not allowed for re-fueling race cars. All fuel storage must be maintained on the
“cold” side of the pit wall or kept within your transporter.
Effective 1 January 2012, ChumpCar will allow the use of the Flo-Fast
mechanical pump for fueling race cars (model # 30301).
http://www.flofast.com/flofastmsrp.html The Flo-Fast pump MUST be used
with an approved jug. The Flo-Fast pump is available from multiple sources,
including ChumpCar’s preferred supplier www.vro.com. This is the ONLY
pump we’ll allow… so don’t ask.
 SRPP3 – All teams shall have one (1) fully-charged 10LB ABC fire extinguisher in
their pit area. All teams shall have one (1) 10LB bag of kitty litter or other
reasonable absorbitant for oil leaks and/or fuel spillage in their pit area. Having a
broom handy is also be advisable.
Effective immediately, all fueling / gasoline catch pans MUST:
1) be manufactured of metal or sturdy, chemical-resistant, vacuum-formed
plastic
2) maintain a minimum 3" lip around the entire circumference or edge
3) must hold a minimum of 1-gallon (4-quarts) of liquid
4) must be larger than 12" square or 12" in diameter and shall not exceed
24" square or 24" in diameter
P.O. Box 1541
Morgan Hill, CA 95038
www.chumpcar.com
[email protected]
Notation: flat drip pans or trays (whether metallic or plastic), rugs,
cardboard and/or any other so-called "container" is no longer approved for
use.
 SRPP4 – Drivers may remain in the car during fueling and driver changes may
also be completed. All engines and electrical kill switches must be off during
fueling. NO WORK ON ANY CAR SHALL BE COMPLETED DURING
REFUELING.
(Note: Replenishing of cool-suit or drinking liquids is considered additional
work and is not allowed. Cleaning of windshields has been disallowed from
approved operations.)
 SRPP5 – All work and/or repairs that can be made to your race cars in under thirty
(30) minutes may be executed in the Pit Lane; all repairs requiring more than 30
minutes time must be completed in the Paddock Area. A penalty of 1 lap for every
five (5) minutes of work in the pit lane that exceeds 30 minutes shall be levied.
 SRPP6 – Those involved in fueling race cars must wear a Nomex driver’s suit,
gloves and full-face helmet.
Any team member over the wall (including fire bottle attendant) while fuel is
being added to a race car must wear fireproof safety equipment. This
includes fire suit, gloves and helmet with visor… or balaclava and goggles.
Non-driver, crew members may utilize a single-layer suit without underwear,
but gloves and helmet (or balaclava and goggles) are required. Other than
non-open toed shoes, shoes and socks are open for non-driving crew
members performing (re)fueling but fireproof socks and leather shoes are
HIGHLY advisable.
 SRPP7 – Electric, propane or kerosene heaters within the “cold” side of the pit
wall are allowed provided all heating elements or flame sources are directed away
from any flammable material and are kept a minimum of 20’ from any fuel storage.
No open flame stoves or BBQs are allowed in the cold pits.
 SRPP8 – All cars, used or junk parts too big for a normal trash can, empty fuel
drums and anything else you brought with you must be taken out with you. If you
leave it behind, we’ll track you down… and it won’t be pretty. AND ALL TEAMS
RENTING A GARAGE, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR AREA IN BETTER CONDITION
THAN WHEN YOU ARRIVED.
P.O. Box 1541
Morgan Hill, CA 95038
www.chumpcar.com
[email protected]
 SRPP9 – While there is some limited lighting in the Sonoma Raceway paddock
area, be advised that ambient lighting may not be sufficient for refueling or
mechanical repairs. There is no power in the paddock area and stringing an
extension cord from the garage area is not allowed. Therefore, teams are
advised to consider alternate power and lighting sources. Teams are also advised
to consider outfitting all team members with a good flashlight. The use of EZ-ups
are recommended for keeping out weather and hanging all lighting fixtures; just
make sure canopies are secured tied down. Canopies come to Sonoma to die 
Multiple teams may want to jointly rent a large industrial generator for shared use.
Designated Charity: Per the 2012 Rules, the purchase of bonus/charity laps is no
longer offered. However, ChumpCar is pleased to adopt the Ronald McDonald House
Charities as its corporate charity and net proceeds from ChumpCar merchandise sales

adjustments" such as an engine swap. And remember, no fuel is to be stored in the
garage areas...only in the paddock or within your transporter. To reserve a garage,
please email [email protected]. You can simply pay at the track on Friday.
