Annual EEO Public File Report
The purpose of this EEO Public File Report (“Report”) is to comply with Section 73.2080(c)(6) of
the FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule. This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment
Unit and is required to be placed in the public inspection files of the station and posted on the
station’s websites, if they have websites.
The FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information:
1. A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the Station(s) comprising the Station Employment
Unit during the Applicable Period;
2. For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including if
applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section 73.208©(1)(ii) of the
new EEO Rule, which should be separately identified), identified by name, address,
contact person, telephone number, fax number and email address (if applicable);
3. The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the
Applicable Period;
4. Data reflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during the
Applicable Period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment
source utilized in connection with such vacancies; and
5. A list and brief description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(2)
of the FCC rules.

Brief description of activity and station participation: Established Student Internship Program to help interested men and
women pursue a career in broadcasting by undertaking an internship that provides training and hands-on experience here at
Journal Broadcast Group – Wichita Operations. We have used Interns working in our newsroom and promotions. All of
our internships are non-paid and are for college credit. Each intern receives hands-on experience and education in the
departments which they were interning for.
In 2009 we had 3 interns in our promotions department. (1 – Hesston College; 1 – Wichita State University; 1 – Fort Hays
State University). Various duties include: lending time and labor to various station activities such as concerts, games, and
events such as the KICT Dodgeball event and the KFDI Listener Appreciation Show; participating in and executing station
van hits and stunts; assisting with inventory of station prize closets; assisting the Promotions Director and/or Promotions
Assistant with deliveries and pick-ups from organizations in the community; maintaining supplies in the van promotions kits;
contacting prize winners to inform them of their prizes; assisting in the coordination of remote techs.
In 2009 we had 2 interns in our News department (1-Wichita State University; 1 – Kansas University)). Various duties
include: Learning nearly every function a newsperson would do with the exception of on-air newscasts and severe weather
coverage; covering news; conducting telephone interviews of newsmakers; writing radio news stories; riding with various
reporters to assignments.

students at the University of Kansas. He met with University of Kansas Dean, Ann Brill, and Assoc. Dean, Mike Williams,
KAB President Kent Cornish and other General Manager attendees to discuss the direction of broadcast journalism and the
education of journalism students. Eric McCart also attended meetings that were conducted with individual students to review
portfolios and discuss career paths.
