LEGAL REPRESENTATION : CUBA
Thank you for your fax of March 10 concerning the above . Unfortunately, I have
only seen it today as I was out of the office towards the end of last week .
I am afraid to say that I am not able to recommend a law office in Cuba itself . I
have spoken with Anne Johnson, who is also seeking representation in Cuba, but
I believe that she has not yet identified an appropriate law firm . May I suggest
that you liaise with Anne as it may be that she will be successful in finding
suitable representation .
In the meantime, as part of the exercise to create a Group Legal Directory, Mike
Hendershot and Chuck Sherman provided details of a firm which B&W have used
in Mexico . Details are attached .
In my previous employment with ICI, I used the law firm of Santamarina y Steta
(contact : Jose Antonio Noguera) again, details are attached .
As far as Venezuela is concerned, I have not been able to find any recent
recommendations from within the Group . I attach for your information a copy of
the "Venezuela" list which was used by me in my previous employment but I must
stress that I have had no personal dealings with any of these firms . It is
interesting to note, however, that BATCo used the firm of Bentata Hoet y

Associados for trade mark matters (contact : Alain Coriat) . I understand that Mr.
Coriat is known to Richard Cooper . In addition, there are references on our
older files to BATCo having used this firm for trade mark matters for some
considerable time .
I trust that the above information is useful to you . If you do identify a lawyer in
Cuba, please let me know and I will incorporate the information into the Group
Legal Directory .
