Improved Alfamix and Alfabrok

Improved Alfamix and Alfabrok
After one year of testing the composition of 1025 Alfamix rabbit and 5062 Alfabrok rabbit has
greatly improved. The latest research on digestion in rabbits has led to improved compositions
which naturally provide maximum protection against common intestinal diseases.
Besides optimal natural protection against intestinal diseases, alfamix rabbit and alfabrok rabbit now
ensure improved optimal growth, especially in large breeds, without the animals gaining weight.
Alfamix rabbit has also changed visually. The food is now less sticky and much brighter in colour.
The new formulation naturally provides, with a combination of acids, herbs and yeast cultures,
maximum protection against common intestinal diseases! The acids ensure that the causes of disease
cannot multiply and the yeast cultures adhere to the coli bacteria so that they no longer can function
and are easily evacuated from the body with the stools. The test pens that in previous years had
considerable difficulty with bloat, this year had no casualties due to this disease! Guarantees can not
be given, but the results are promising, i.e. very low mortality in young rabbits. The new formulations
also provide for a better (faster) growth than before without the animals gaining weight.
From week 50 we expect to start delivering the new composition Alfamix rabbit. Alfabrok rabbit will
follow early next year. The packages with the new composition are temporarily fitted with brightly
coloured stickers to indicate that it is an improved formula.
Two special feeds for white fowl
703 white feathers pellets: Garvo has gained many loyal users with the 700-series ornamental
poultry feed. In several types in this series, we add carotene to achieve a better yolk colour or leg
colour. All feeds also contain corn-carotene. That carotene can cause discolouration in poultry with
white plumage. Especially for breeders of white animals, Garvo introduced earlier this year 703 white
feathers pellets. A highly specialised feed to be used in various stages of life, combined with other
feeds. Despite the specialised nature of this feed, the sales have far exceeded our expectations!
725 white cockerels growing pellets: Different breeders of white poultry from the Netherlands,
Germany and the UK, asked us to produce very special feed for the growth of white cockerels and
white heavy breeds in general. In mid January 2011 Garvo will therefore introduce 725 white
cockerels growth pellets, which can be considered the carotene-free variant of 723 young cockerel
pellets. 725 is a very protein-rich feed without carotene ingredient
For white breeds with other than yellow legs, the feeding advice is now as follows:
As laying feed for (hatching) eggs: 80% 703 white feather pellets + 20% wheat + unlimited shell grit
Chicks from 0-3 weeks of age: 50% 703 white feathers pellets + 50% alfastart chicks (available in 12.5
kg and 800g).
Hens (small breeds) from 3 weeks to mature: 100% 703 white feathers pellets.
Cockerels and hens heavy breeds from 3 weeks to 12 weeks: 100% 703 white feathers pellets.
Cockerels and hens heavy breeds from 12 weeks: 100% 725 white cockerels growth pellets, if there is
a white animal with yellow leg colour, an optimum can be found with the different species in which
the leg colour becomes beautifully intense yellow and the feathers do not fade.
New labels on feed packaging
As from 1 September 2010, a new EC Regulation (No 767/2009) is in force. This Regulation replaces
seven European directives. The new regulation contains rules for the production and marketing of
animal feed. It mainly has many consequences for the labelling of compound feed, single-feed and
pet food.
This summer we at Garvo have grappled with the new legislation. The mandatory information on the
labels has changed with the new regulation so that the space on the existing labels is too small. All
feed produced since September 1 has been labelled with larger labels and in a new layout under the
new legislation. New is that all E-numbers of the vitamins and all chemical compounds of the trace
elements must be indicated. Look for an example of an old label here and a new label here. All the
labels look totally different, but the compositions have almost always remained the same!

Alfamix chickens, Alfamix chicks and Alfastart chicks in 12.5 kg
We have repeatedly announced that we will sell alfamix chickens, alfamix chicks and alfastart chicks
in 12.5 kg packaging. Unfortunately we have had to delay this several times due to setbacks. A few
weeks ago the packages finally arrived. These bags consist of several layers of foil. The layers came
loose, however, so the packaging was rejected by us and the launch had to be postponed. The bags
are currently being reprinted (in Italy) and now we hope to introduce these feeds in gorgeous 12.5 kg
packaging as from 1 January.
Nutrition for fighting breeds and heavy breeds
Garvo has carried the product Alfastart chicks in its assortment for a long time. Until now, the feed
was only available in bags of 800g. At the end of December 2010 it will also be available in 12.5 kg
packages. With this new package size, this unique feed becomes interesting for various fanciers.
Alfastart chicks contains both high quality vegetable protein and animal protein (in the form of dried
shrimp). This makes it particularly suitable as feed supplement for heavy breeds such as Brahma,
Orpington, Marans and Faverolles. The same goes for fighting breeds such as Indian fighting fowl and
Malaysian. This feed contributes to faster growth, stronger feathers and harder, muscular animals.
Add one quarter to one third of alfastart chicks to Garvo chick feeds (701/702) or to breeding feeds
(714, 715, 723) for best results in heavy breeds and fighting breeds.
Egg inspections
Last year we have tested alfastart chicks for a better quality egg. Alfastart chicks shows a very
positive influence on the size of the eggs and the quality of the eggshells. The feed contains highly
absorbable calcium and very high quality protein. These contribute to an egg format that fits the
breed; the maximum genetic potential is expressed. Thanks to the highly absorbable calcium in
alfastart chicks the chicken also develops eggs with a solid shell of uniform strength, smooth with a
beautiful structure. If you bring eggs to evaluation, alfastart chicks is a powerful tool for perfect
predicates. Add one quarter to one third of alfastart chicks to Garvo breeding feeds (716/717) or
laying feeds (730/731).
