HDR Handbook and Guide @ MQ
The induction/orientation programs
• The induction program spans several months – not several hours
As well as the usual mechanical processes – a learning plan should
also be developed
• Your supervision team may need to review whether you have the right
people in place at the end of the induction phase
• Remember that a comprehensive and high quality induction process
pays dividends in the long term
• Your induction program should be monitored and recorded
Publishing and reporting
• Publishing articles during your candidature is useful in many
disciplines as it helps demonstrate progression.
• It is also important to publish in good journals to obtain preexamination peer review of the work and establish your “reputation”.
• Acknowledgement for MQ
Published work can also form substantial parts of “chapters” within your
thesis.
• HERDC reporting (Book, Book chapter, Journal and Conference
paper)
• Annual Progress Report (APR)
