You’re invited to lunch & an informal discussion on… ‘Confirmation, conferences, publications….and all that!’ The Centre invites WOW Student (and qualifying potential) HDR Members, and ERHR HDR students, to attend this Q & A Session and informal discussion aimed to explore the many stages of the PhD process from confirmation through to life after the PhD. If you have ever had a burning question, such as: • “How do I get the most out of attending conferences?”; or • “What does the dissertation examiner really look for?”; or • “What job options are there after I finish?”….. then this is your opportunity to ask! Chaired by WOW’s HDR Student Representative, Paula Mowbray, the panel will include Professor Adrian Wilkinson, Director of WOW, Associate Professor Ashlea Troth, Deputy Head of the Department of ERHR; and two former ERHR doctoral candidates - Dr Dhara Shah, who has recently been appointed as a Lecturer at Griffith University; and Dr Sue Ressia, who is working as an Adjunct Lecturer at Bond University and as a Research Assistant within WOW. Importantly, it is also an opportunity for HDR students to share their own experiences and insights and to laugh and commiserate over the many ups and downs of their own PhD journey. Given that WOW and ERHR HDR students are spread over various hubs and campuses (or even interstate!), this is also a great opportunity to meet with fellow students over lunch. Gold Coast students – we are pleased to assist with your transportation costs to Nathan (e.g. reimburse return train fare; organise a University vehicle car pool).
