The Ministry of Education and Sport performs tasks in the areas of education, basic edu cation, secondary and higher education, adult education and sport. Formed in late 2004
after the split of the Ministry of Education, Sports and the Ministry of Higher Education,
Science and Technology.
Education is characterized by a relatively large
number of jobs and salary supplements with
unique characteristics. The calculation of salaries
is so complex that it requires complete IT support. In 2008 a new law was adopted concerning
the system of wages in the public sector (ZSPJS)
Adoption of this law has brought the need to
adopt the information system. In collaboration
with the ministry staff, we developed the business information system KPIS. KPIS is a solution for entering staff data, calculating the gross
wages of staff and the display of salary and
employment parameters.
The system can be divided into two parts:
• a web application that allows schools and institutions to enter data on employment and produce
various lists with the staffing and payment parameters.
• Calculating payrolls under the law, which is designed as an action in the database.
KPIS uses an Oracle database. The web application is made in ASP.NET technology with the
use of AJAX libraries. Work on the bill is done
in the form of PL/SQL procedures in the Oracle
database.
